What happened to Nick Amato?

He had a lot of ability but his form declined by about 20% each season he played at North.

He played particularly well for Glenelg against North on the June long weekend game, yet was dropped soon afterwards and has now left the club.

All very strange. I am not trying to muck rake but rather hate to see a talent like Amato not being realised.

Weather will be a factor in this one. Not sure of the Bays form at Prospect. They have won their last three and winning form is good form, however, the Rooters by a goal.

I'm a big fan of Josh Scott, he's a cracker of a player. Not as big a fan as Doug Oakley though, there's some serious manlove going on there.

Scoreboard flattered North. Would have been grand larceny if North got up.

I guess North, too were without their best player, Max Thring, who you would think would have thrived in the conditions. It highlights what we have thought about North for most of the year. They have certainly improved, the backline is quite settled now, but another three high class recruits are required to make North a genuine threat.

North got 6 free kicks in a row in the Glenelg forward line early in the last quarter within about 2 minutes. All that caused that was North's inability to hit the body and inability to take the ball cleanly which caused Glenelg players to infringe mainly through their expectation that the North player would take the ball.
Other than two decisions that the umpires considered sling tackles, one which gifted Glenelg a goal when the Bay player should have been pinged for holding the ball and one which probably cost Glenelg a goal when the North defender was blatantly holding the ball, I didn't think that the umpires had any effect.

As for the goal umpire at the Robran end in the last qtr...
17 minute mark Tropiano has a set shot which is clearly marked by the Glenelg defender a good metre in play yet somehow it’s given a goal.
Farcical.

I was standing in front of the grandstand but I couldn't tell for sure but after the match I was talking to a member of the grog squad who agreed entirely with you that it was marked a metre in play. I wasn't alluding to that decision when I said it would have been grand larceny if North had got up, but it certainly would have added to the case. Glenelg used the ball better, spread from defence better and deserved the win, no doubt.
