Congrats North. Just too good.
Have a few mates that haven’t seen a Roosters flag so can’t begrudge them that

Well done Cocks, too good. They play a tough, enterprising style of football. A few other clubs, mine included, could do worse than have a serious look at it.

Excellent finals series and fantastic GF. Take the AFL reserves terms out of the finals and the results speak for themselves and the supporters turn up. The SANFL have a window of opportunity to start preparing next year with a strong media marketing campaign to promote the competition on the back of a highly published, widely viewed and highly regarded GF.
Noted the WAFL had 25k spectators to their GF, if the AFL don't destroy the comp by introducing mid season drafts now is the time to spend big time on promotion of the SANFL.

Cheers bud. I’m not sure why, maybe it hasn’t hit yet, but I’m not actually feeling gutted. I always thought there was a high possibility we could get exposed and unfortunately that’s what happened. Lot to admire about the way North play, they play with such bravery and their work rate is top drawer. Sometimes you just come up against a better team, c’est la vie.

Absolutely. Their willingness to go no matter what is admirable.

Hear, hear JK. I am slightly gutted (I still think that Norwood side beats that North side in a GF 8 games out of 10—yesterday was just played on one of the 2 times), but don't regret flying over to watch it. A really entertaining game of footy with a strong crowd atmosphere—just well worth attending.

Yesterday was sort of like the 1999 GF. They were both excellent games of footy to watch where either team could have won into the 4th quarter, and both sides had a decent crack and kicked goals, even if my team came 2nd.

WAFL 25,000 VFL 12,000. SANFL 40,000

It is easy for me to say this and I am trying not to gloat but when you get a spectacle like yesterday with the crowd and atmosphere to go with it, the SANFl is simply the best suburban competition of any sport in the world. I can't think of any other sport that would get 40,000 people to any game at the level of the SANFL.

JK probably feels a bit like I did way back in 1973. Whilst I was disappointed with the result I was proud that my team was involved in such a spectacle and in awe of one player's contribution. I said after the game yesterday to a well known Norwood poster that although playing in completely different roles, Mitch Grigg's game was the best by a player in a loss since Bob Hammond's epic game in 1973.

SANFL is to AFL as College Football is to NFL.
College Football has a record attendance in excess of 115,000.

To Be a little fair it wasn't competing with anything really. WAFL had West Coast there Saturday and VFL had Collingwood and Richmond Friday night.
Numbers would have been a lot less if there was a Crows or Port game here.

True, but I think this is more to do with the geography of the U.S, where they have very large towns/cities that are not quite big enough to have a proper NFL team, but still get exposure to interstate rivalries through the college that represents their town. The fact that everything is much closer over there makes it possible, and everyone from that town or region would follow that one team. (Correct me if I am wrong with that assumption.)
Contrast that with the SANFL where we have a city of 120,000 divided 10 ways in a second tier competition drawing 40,000 to a game.
I should probably get some figures and actual facts to back up what I am saying, but either way, the support for College football is phenomenal, the SANFL is also clearly punching above its weight.
It is no wonder that such a competition should breed something in its supporters that causes them to defend its integrity against all odds, as well as draw them out in their tens of thousands on its biggest day.

Sturt v Port drew about 40,000 last year, and the Crows were on their way to a Grand Final. Couldn't tell you if there was a game actually in Adelaide on the same weekend though., watching the Crows is about as interesting for me as watching week-old-urine turn into ammonia.

5 very deserving finalists this year, any one of them could have laid some sort of claim to the flag. That was reflected in every Finals game North played, except for the Sturt game, but injuries meant that the side we put on the park was way below its best in that game.

Crows played the Prelim two days before the SANFL GF.
