At this stage :

Collingwood, GWS and Port Adelaide are indicating they won't draft anyone.

Brisbane, Fremantle, Geelong, St Kilda and West Coast do not have a spot available on their list.

Michael Knoll ( South Adelaide ) may have interest from Essendon or Richmond who need to bolster ruck stocks.

Few, if any, other South Australians are mentioned in despatches.

Knoll, Gregson and Hosie all invited to medicals. Knoll's invite (cute term) came Saturday morning.

Do you know if Knoll’s was from us?
Recent chatter has been that we have switched our attention to Marlion Pickett but with Smith now put on LTI we have another spot

I don't know who invited him but we are counting on him as gone.

Clubs do not get any compensation either.

Why, what’s wrong with grassy?

Nothing is wrong with him, he is a top ruckman and has been building excellent form. If he gets drafted I wish him the absolute best and hope he has a good career. As a South Adelaide supporter though I would be disappointed to lose him because it would hurt our chance for success. It would also mean another wasted contract and us spending money on 2 players and only getting half a season of 1 player in return.

No-one is mentioning the knock-on effect all the way down the grass roots. If South lose their best to the AFL mid-season draft, they will likely draw on their reserves, who in turn draw on the best player from lower grades they can get. Every team in the stack is vulnerable to lose someone to a better (higher) offer, and it will come from their best few players.

The AFL have reserves teams, all of them. The purpose of having one is to provide depth to cover injury etc. If a side can't manage with that, they are not managing their player stocks correctly, setting up your whole squad correctly should be a driver of success. In the case of the mid-season draft, they are giving them a safety net, which will allow AFL clubs to change their squad strategy in the future.

My thoughts on Will Gould and why have dropped him down my Top 10 after watching last 2 weeks. Top 10 is rolling so can change weekly.

 His main weaknesses was his leg speed, lack of agility and height in role.
Very straight-lined and once the ball got past him was slow to recover or
pick up his opponent. Was saved a few times by his team mates.
 He wasn’t consistently clean with his ball handling.
 He showed only average jumping ability to compensate for his height for
negating in the aerial contests but showed he could use his body
effectively.
 Looked awkward in some ground level contests with lack of flexibility
and balance.

Your thoughts yesterday @SA_Scout on Will's game against AFL listed opposition?

I think your comments on Will are valid re speed and recovery. AS you mentioned his ability to out body opponents was very good yesterday and his greatest attribute which is crucial in todays game - hit a target by foot was on display yesterday.

I will admit Port played very "bruise-free" footy yesterday but his footy brain was clear too (positioning and decision making).

Where he goes is anyone's guess this year but his footy skills and smarts make him an attractive proposition as you cant teach that where as you can develop his physical attributes.
