Count on your good fortune, WWTFC had 6 players to make their way onto an AFL List. Hard to sustain losses like that but good luck to them, Makes youth development pointless.

It’s about time we had some good fortune.
I don’t think youth development is pointless, it all helps build a good culture at the club. We all know every young footballer dreams to play in the AFL, as they should. Having a positive environment to harness that talent is a good thing in my opinion.
I just get annoyed when players in their mid to late 20s are “rookie” drafted. That stings, but still good luck to the player.

Yep , Eagles lose 6 and North nil but both clubs get the same $$ . All clubs will develop players obviously but who agreed to not being rewarded for it ?

Last year North had 5 drafted and got the same $$$ as those clubs which had no one drafted.
As Wedgie pointed out this is only the second time in the history of the draft that North have had no one drafted.

Izzy McKenzie invited to do pre season with West Coast. 3 month contract could roll over to 12 month rookie contract.

What happened to the system that I thought was in place at one stage whereas the club received payment for the players that were drafted and then another payment when their played 50 games etc. It is not as if the AFL teams can't afford it . They seem to have no problem with having 10 coaches and a dozen hangers on hovering over selections at their draft table when the draft is conducted. So much for looking after grass roots (feeder) clubs.

That was my point. I think its been gone a few years now and every club receives a flat fee.

Agree, he is ready for a big year at Centrals, the good news is we haven't lost anyone in any of these pesky drafts, like we did last year.

Good luck to the lad and hope he makes it but he has some huge flaws in his game he needs to iron out to make it in my opinion.

Always been a huge Izzy fan

Always felt he was a bit of a whipping boy for a poor performance, but he was one of the few we had with genuine speed and has the knack for making a goal out of nothing which we needed as well.

Swings and round about, I suspect. 2017 Sturt had six drafted, 2019 - donuts. I don't think any of the SANFL clubs 'put up' the change to the current system, It was more a case of the AFL saying, "This is what the system will be from here on....."

I thought the system was voted on prior to be changed?
