It's funny how people say that Adelaide & Port always have injuries and this could be a reason to justify a Marquee player.
What happens when an SANFL club loses one of it's best players to an injury? They have to bring someone up from the reserves who clearly won't be as good as player as the player who is injured.

No tapping into marquee players for the 8 SANFL clubs just deal with the injury.

The Marquee was set up for the opposite, not enough injuries. Experienced players missing out over forced youth selections.

You make a good point though, you should be able to replace a LTI player like they do in the AFL.

Does anyone on this site think Steve Sommerton was on a max of $29k a year?

Why not, equates to just over $1600 per game. There wouldn't be too many leagues in this state offering that to entice a player.

Give me some figures, most I have heard in recent times is $1500 per game in a couple of country leagues. The cap for the Ammos is $54k and I think the country is maybe $15k more than that. Doesn't leave much room for anyone else.

Some blokes are on $3k per game in leagues where the cockies cough up the cash.

 You wouldn't want to have a few bad games in a row. Ridiculous coin.

Yep plenty of guys in the bush getting 2-3k / game.- cash.
Just to give you an idea...the very top sanfl players have a sign on fee...usually around 20k/year... ..and then are paid on a per game basis...what that amount is ,is negotiable.

I feel the salary cap is only a guide and we follow the North and Central Districts model.

I had it in my mind he was an Eagles junior.

Good replacement for Josh Koster.

Much better player than Koster and will fit in very nicely.

Which League do Central Districts play in. The team in the S.A.N.F.L. is called Central District. ;)

You should know. Your captain left for near on $2K a game for an hour drive.

Hope It doesn’t happen to any of the clubs, but Bays might be nervous about the mid-season draft and other various recruiting windows.

Or their missus that plays D Grade netball for the club on a Saturday is paid $1500 a game to get around the cap
