Update on the rules SANFL 2020

1: Final 4[ makes sense given 8 teams]
2 : 5 minute breaks after 1st + 3rd quarters
3 : 15 minute break at half time
4 : Interchange rotations 75 [ was 60 last season, 75 a good move given interrupted pre -season and same qtr lengths as last season]
5 : Steven Marshall was allowed to attend and watch Norwood

I dont have an update on crowd sizes per rounds

Well done to the premier of SA
Marshall Law is working a treat, and we have an SANFL this season
Given this, It would be fitting if his SANFL team Norwood wins the premiership this season ...

What do people think of the below, from SANFL website ? Who is going to review the decision ? Not fans I suppose. Personally I can't think of anything worse than reading the "Budget" on a phone. Rather team sheets ( as for trial games) for a gold coin donation to the home club.

The iconic SA Football Budget will be published from this weekend as a digital-only magazine.
Due to Covid-19, the decision to go totally digital has been made to:
Reduce handling of cash and the magazine itself, in line with health advice from government
Reduce the cover price for footy fans (down from $3 last year to $2.50 per issue this year, $5 for the Grand Final and $29 for a season subscription – which is a $16 saving).
The decline in print and the general move by society to digital platforms.

SANFL will publish the magazine in a digital format in rounds 1 and 2 for the Adelaide Oval fixtures, with the decision to be reviewed after round 2.

SANFL General Manager Commercial Neal Matotek said the transition to a digital only publication mirrored the major shift in society away from print products, which were no longer as profitable due to the decline in print advertising.

“The League has been considering a move to digital for the Budget for several years and Covid-19 has accelerated that,” Mr Matotek said.

“The Budget has been part of the fabric of SANFL footy since it was first published in 1914 so we’d love for it to continue to be a part of the match day experience for supporters in 2020.

“The first two rounds of the year at Adelaide Oval are the logical choice to trial this move.”

The digital-only Budget is now much more than a match day magazine, with great reading for SANFL fans that can’t make it to games, as well as full team lists for those that can.

The first issue is a bumper page 40 pages (up from 32 pages for round one last year).

The pages are viewable on phones, tablets and desktops. That means fans at the game can easily read each article and refer to team lists on their phone.

“There will be more editorial content this year, so there are plenty of stories to read for people not going to a weekend’s games but who love their traditional SANFL footy fix,” Mr Matotek said.

Digital wont work, unless it is free.

I don't mind downloading it while the COVID restrictions are in place.

When the restrictions are over I will cease purchasing the budget unless I can get a hardcopy.

Farting about on the phone to work out who is #22 for the opposition just doesn't work.

It costs $2.50 to access the Budget and as far as i know it cant be downloaded only available on phones etc
A joke in the current form Good excuse by the SANFL & Boylen to blame Covid 19 wont stop them printing other publications they have.

So how will it be different ? If you decide to get it online what has Covid got to do with it? And the players listed are not always accurate anyway due to it being printed early. Go to the SANFL App and check the players numbers that way. Heaps easy.
It has been spoken about for a few years now so I doubt it will come back. Nothing in t anyway.

I say bring it back only for Grand Finals as a collectors item.

Clearly you've never operated a football budget.

When the final changes are announced just prior to the match, simply:
1. Put a stroke through the players who are not taking the field; and
2. Write any players' numbers and names which do not appear in budget down the bottom.

He'd be on Jobkeeper like most others for SANFL wouldn't he? Good pickup I agree - Didn't see any of the Dogs v Blues game, but Centrals list imho looks better than it has in recent seasons.

Good point Spargo. The final four look set. That said, it is still Norwoods flag to lose.
