MY VIEW ON WEST TORRENS

The peckers have been no lower than 4th since 1998. In 7 of the last eight seasons they have finished top 3 including 5 grand finals.

I believe the hammering they are copping is unbelieveable. They deserve credit for continually bouncing back and putting themselves up there. If you keep presenting yourself eventually you will crack it. Some people should remember the game hasn't been played yet.

The Eagles performances in finals are highly credible. Centrals would be hammering anyone else that got there too. The dogs have been clearly a better side than the Eagles in this era. Two years in a row in knockout finals North have put the question to the Eagles in the second half and both times they have responded with a win.

Why North havn't copped more for thier efforts in the last 3 years is puzzling. To me they deserve the wrath of the football public more than Woodville. North have finished in my opinion in the lowest spot they possibly could have in the past 3 seasons with the ability they have had. I am in no doubt as to who performs better under pressure out of the two clubs.

Lets all make an effort to get out there this Sunday and support our great competition and give these two clubs the crowd they deserve and stop badmouthing the Eagles crowd and start promoting to friends and family.

Eagles you must change your guernsey it is the worst I have seen in SANFL and VFL/AFL history.

For the record I tip the doggies to win by 5 goals.

Good Comment

I agree with a lot of what you said. W-WT Eagles have been very good performers for a number of years now, they just have a problem with Central on GF day. I think they cop far too much crap.

At the start of the season, most scribes were tipping a North Adelaide v Port Adelaide GF, so in a sense the Eagles have surpassed expectations of them.

I also agree about the guernsey. I loved the old style eagle on the chest that West Torrens wore in the 1960s, that was a great jumper.

good point, the EAGLES are clearly the 2nd best team in the comp, they deserve to win a flag just due to their consistency, but you have to remember it is easier when they are 2 clubs...... well one taking over the other.........wheres the green??????????

Sturt : Fears - The seven sides above them

I didn't mean the colours - I meant the "two clubs" bullshit.

My dear West Torrens supporters. What many of the wankers that refer to the WWTFC as two clubs conveniently forget is that basically the Woodville zone from 1964 to 1990 was part of the old West Torrens area, so I say we are only getting back the territory that was originally ours and still forms part of the one club WWTFC. Under achievers use the tired old expression it took two clubs to beat us.

What other SANFL club has had to put up with the shit handed out to West Torrens by splitting their suburban zone in two (western suburbs and eastern suburbs).

Critical shit should be laid on South Adelaide - they were handed a golden goose (extensively growing southern suburbs and a country area running into their metro zone) and they still under achieve. At one stage during the 2005 season they had 17 imports in their league team, they should be penalised for not playing enough locals or maybe clubs that play locals should be rewarded with bigger handouts from the SANFL or have their salary cap increased to reward the local players. Clubs like Norwood and Sturt also have their country zones running into their metro zones - so much easier to get country players when this occurs - but they still manage to stuff up their on field performance.

well i think you will find that south this year had a game in which they had 19 imports, but then why stop at south, what about NORTH, CENTRALS ETC.............

Ferret I hate admitting this dark family secret, but unfortunately one half of my family are Port supporters

The reason, my grandmother came over from then peninsula and went to Woodville High, in the 1930s it was Port Adelaide's area and my grandmother started following Port Adelaide. When Woodville FC was created it got half of Port's "area" and half of Torrens "area", unfortunately it was west torrens that suffered more 1964-1990, not Port Adelaide. I say "area" because IIRC zones didn't come into being until the late 60s early 70s. (I'll stand corrected on that).

So to say the Eagles got back what was rightfully theres in 1990 is a furphy, Woodville was originally a Ports area, or at least half of it was..

Yes i know Torrens suffered under the old zones having a zone in the eastern suburbs.

PS don't tell anyone I have Port supporters in my family........

North lost the Kilburn area to Woodville which had been a good recruiting zone for us and continued to be for Woodville. Also we lost parts of the area around Tea Tree Gully (WTF ???) to Torrens.
Also IIRC (and I hate to stick up for them  ) but if Woodville hadn't come in Blight and Huppatz (amongst others) would have played for Port.

I thought TTG/Modbury was Port Adelaide before it was Torrens

It was horrible when I played 17s at Pooraka and realised I was in Port's zone.

Could never understand why Pooraka, or for that matter Salisbury were in Port's zone.
