Round 2 South v Glenelg

Postby PatowalongaPirate » Thu Jul 02, 2020 11:27 pm

Adelaide Oval, Sunday July 5th, 11.50am.

SOUTH

South Adelaide has called upon wingman Mark Noble as a potential inclusion for its match against Glenelg at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Originally set to play with Werribee in the VFL, Noble has since returned to Noarlunga to suit up in the Navy Blue in 2020.

The hard-running midfielder has been joined in the 25-man squad by utility Jesse McKinnon, defender James Loneragan and forward Luke Bogle.

Co-captain Matt Rose will face a race against time to play again this year after tearing his bicep against the Eagles in Round 1 while Malcolm Karpany must prove his fitness after hurting in his back early in the same game.

F: Wilkinson, Overall, McCreery

HF: Sampson, Cailotto, Fitt

C: Dumesny, Schwarz, Milsom

HB: Haines, Haren, Brown

B: Highmore, Summerton, Kappler

R: McGree, Broadbent, Cross

INT: Karpany, Bogle, Heaslip, Whittlesea, McKinnon, Loneragan, Noble

IN: McKinnon, Bogle, Noble, Loneragan

OUT: Rose (torn bicep/dislocated shoulder)

GLENELG

Glenelg has rolled out the welcome mat for premiership captain Chris Curran ahead of its game against South at Adelaide Oval.

The courageous defender missed Round 1 due to his medical placement in the Riverland but returns to be named at centre-half back against the Panthers.

Curran has been joined in the Tigers’ 25-man squad by possible AAMI Rookies Callum Park (PHOS Camden) and Reid Kuller (West Gambier), who were both attracting the attention of AFL scouts last year.

Midfielder Finn Betterman has also returned to the squad while utility Todd Slade has been sent back to the Reserves.

Captain Max Proud will play his 100th League match after making his debut in Round 5 of 2012.

F: Bailey, McBean, Motlop

HF: Gregson, Reynolds, Nicholson

C: Partington, Agnew, Bradley

HB: Parks, Curran, McCarthy

B: Edwards, Proud, Merrett

R: Hannath, Allen, Stretch

INT: Snook, Virgin, Kluske, Scharenberg, Park, Betterman, Kuller

IN: Curran, Park, Betterman, Kuller

OUT: Slade

NEW: Park, Kuller

Can not see Karpany playing. Noble would be his replacement.

South were the only team not to lose to Glenelg last year. Big challenge and looking forward to it.

South by a point.

Looking forward to this one.

Pool, beers, BBQ, DP and TV all good to go.

Forecast is 31 deg and sunny up here.

South to win by a goal, and leave South fans in a deeper quandary of "would we, if they had..."

Looking forward to this one. Big test for South to see where we are at. A lot of young players in the team so will be interesting to see how they stand up.

Doc, please change your tip to Glenelg :D

Already did that in the first game yesterday and it cost me. Well maybe I should then.

I am confident of a good showing today. I will be very interested to see how the 5 debutantes from last week back up,

Some light drizzle at the moment but will clear and will be a perfect day for football. Just hoping for a perfect result.

Would love to watch this game, managed about 5 minutes but had to turn it off due to the awful commentary on the digital pass. They really do devalue the product.

Half time; Glenelg 11.5 71 lead South 5.2 32.

Very strong second quarter from the Tigers. Very happy considering I was very nervous about this one; we didn't beat South last year. Digital pass commentary awful. By the way, hello from Darwin where it's a lovely 31 degrees. :)

Glenelg far too good at half time. Umpires not helping South but the players need to stop reacting to it, too much complaining on the field.

I mute Digital Pass and put the stereo on 1629, it's much better than listening to Digital Pass imo

Tackles means you're second to the ball

Bays by 45 at 3/4 time.

4 more inside 50s for South, but it's just a "kick long and pray" approach. Not working.

Tackles means you're second to the ball

That argument holds true if you are behind in the disposal count. The fact that we at 3/4 time have 100 more possessions and 7 more tackles means we are working harder both ways.

To lead the possession and the tackles is stiffy material for coaches!
