The Roost? It's "Behind Closed Doors".

Postby Squawk » Wed Oct 04, 2006 1:25 am

After reading the disappointment of roosters fans on here, I was keen to digest some more in-depth analysis of the result from the roosters fans themselves via the Roost forum.

Is there a particular reason why this fan forum is "locked out" to the public unless you are a registered user? Is it to encourage registrations, to promote 'in-house' talk or for some other reason?

Squawk, Im suprised you didn't shoot me an email or a pm, Im not that hard to track down if you needed an explanation mate.
Not sure it warrants a topic dedicated to it.

Just an experiment to see how many "lurkers" might sign up and post, had a few so far.
Certainly no devious reason, Footysa and the Snouts site as well as heaps of other sporting forums do it too.
Also thought it might help keep the amount of "bots" signing up down but I dont think its had an impact there but worth a try as I was comparing it to this site which runs on the same technology.
Plenty of fans of other clubs have signed up and are seen regularly lurking on there.
Still IMHO easily the best fans forum but it does have a huge advantage by being around longer which I think makes a big difference.

redden whites - not a conspiracy theorist, just a genuine question. I have signed up though and did so before posting above.

re JFK - I've read a few books on this topic and done a bit of research too, again, for interest only! my old man actually worked for a US presidential candidate in the early 70s (believe it or not!). Can't help you with Roswell, Lady Di or Elvis. As for a dismal attempt at you don't know what, let me just say a case of "email/forums don't capture tone or expression". Seems like a sensitive spot you've got there tho.

Wedgie, happy if you want to delete the topic.

I have always been of the view that the 'club' sites are for that clubs supporters only. I also consider it very poor form if other supporters go onto those sites and then reproduce comments made and paste them onto 'general public' forums ?
Does anyone else agree ?

I agree Gravel. I regularly visit other club sites, but out of respect for being on their turf, I don't post in their discussions- even if I want to add something constructive/positive to the discussion (or even set a record straight).
That's just my view though.
