R14 South v North Sunday 1415

Postby DOC » Wed Sep 23, 2020 7:59 pm

Must be a new time slot on the SANFL Wheel of Fixture.

Will North bring back 4/5 players or give them a further rest?

South have to make 1 change and that should be Horne for Brown. Leave it Magellan.

South by a point.

Yes, the result will depend a lot on whether North's posse of injured players are passed fit and indeed play. Panthers at home and in good from should go in as favourites.

North's side:

Kym LeBois Mitch Harvey Lewis Hender
Frank Szekely Keenan Ramsey Will Combe
Jarred Allmond Harrison Wigg Robbie Young
Mitch Clisby Dyson Hilder Keanu Miller
Ben Jarman Cameron Craig Elliot Chalmers

Ruck - James Craig, Cameron Hewett, Campbell Combe
Interchange - Alex Barns, Patrick Davies, Karl Finlay, Lee Minervini, Mackenzie Slee

In - Alex Barns, Mackenzie Slee
Out - Billy Hartung (Ankle)

Looks like we might be giving Alex Barns a run if he's passed fit.

It’s nice to attend a game when winning or losing has no bearing on the season. Still, it would be nice to keep some good form going in to the finals and I think the Panthers will get the win by 2 goals.

SOUTH

South Adelaide coach Jarrad Wright will need to make at least one change when his side hosts North at Flinders University Stadium.

Exciting teenager Jason Horne is sidelined by a calf injury, ensuring he is the Panthers’ certain exclusion.

Id be fairly sure that both sides will rest anyone who isnt 100% fit for this game , which has no bearing on the ladder positions going into the finals.
Still, entering the finals on the back of winning form is pretty important.
Just hoping that follically challenged umpire does'nt do a job on us like he did at Prospect earlier in the year.
Panthers at home by a couple of goals.

You may rest players at certain times (with other matches in mind) but the objective of both teams will be to win. This is why I think Brown is not playing. I really hope he gets back the week after.

I can not see McGree, Sawford, Biemans or Noble getting a game. I would be astonished if anyone could be dropped on form from the Norwood game. I expect Highmore to play to get some touch. His half that he played against West showed that he needs it.

Panthers by a point.

Not really, most premiers in recent times have either lost the last minor round game or had pretty ordinary form for some weeks.
Even outside of premierships in 2013 North lost their last 5 minor round games before winning 3 finals.
Finals are a completely different kettle of fish.

How come Glenelg don’t have a clash guernsey? South wear a clash guernsey away against Glenelg (and others) but Glenelg wear their normal guernsey with white shorts away against South.

And further to that i hate the South away jumper, hoops amid the SA logo...yuk! Just reverse the colours as per 2011 that looks terrific, and while i'm at it lift the SA logo higher up nearer the neck of the jumper, sometimes i think i'm supporting Leader Computers football club. Rant over...for now

I like the hoops as the clash guernsey as a nod to founding past but yes the SA logo on it is a bit too much. Maybe a small SA logo top left might be better which I think was used a few years ago. Totally agree about the navy guernsey, the SA should definitely be above the sponsor.

Hard to get enthused over this game, given there's nothing at the end of it except the possibility of injuries, which arguably a bigger threat for North as we've already got a few to some key players.

I expect South to win - at home, in good form, and playing a depleted North side.
