It's the law mate, if the cops got hold of footage or did a check (which the clubs were told would happen) then the Eagle's risk losing their licenses and one of those (on Port Rd) is probably the lifeblood of the club . Not to mention a large fine which they probably couldn't afford either.
I'm amazed any Eagles fans would jeopordise their club like that.

Probably. You can only do the Eagle Drop so many times.

They did in 2006. Funnily enough I was at the ceremony, I took Diss.

Was certainly their Grand Final to lose, with both the Eagles and North Adelaide finishing four wins ahead of the rest in the minor round in '06.

No, I meant Woodville pre merger.
Have another look at the chimney.

The police were there just about all night, just wandering around. It was as usual the overly officious private security people that had to parade their authority. Does wiggling your bum to Eagle Rock constitute dancing.

Lots of comments on the good design of the premiers' T-shirt and cap.

Lonergan continues his record of not playing in a losing game for the Eags this year. Not a prolific possession winner in the GF, none the less watching the replay, his leadership, 1 percenters, positioning and strength were valuable. Will be playing on next year as well but probably needs to lose a few kilos!

Lonergan does offer something missing when he is out injured
However he did dance around three south defenders in front of goal and kick a goal in the prelim .
He does offer something .

Knew Lowson was playing under an injury cloud but not to the extent that he had virtually no medial lateral ligament and should have been operated on instead of playing. Brave effort by him and the selectors!

The Messiah took our Premiership Cup out to the Athelstone FC last night to show it off to his former club.
Says a lot about the man that he is still connected to where he came from.
Noticed quite a few blue Athelstone jackets amongst the crowd celebrating on Sunday night.

Would’ve Athelstone been old Eagles territory back when Torrens had the north-eastern suburbs for a period back in the 70’s/80’s?

I think so, Tea Tree Gully certainly was.
Another example of the SANFL screwing over Torrens.
We developed the area and it was even mooted that we set up home out there.
Then they gave the area to Norwood

Looking at that 2nd quarter for the 4th time and Redden certainly gave our on ballers an armchair ride. He rightly received some flack for his 2nd semi performance but he has had a very consistent year overall and rose to the occasion superbly when it mattered.

Not sure you can say that the Eagles have been 'screwed over'. After all. you received the areas of two clubs: Woodville AND West Torrens. It was only right that some of your very old area was taken away.
The club has worked very hard in making success happen since then, but there is no way they were treated harshly by the SANFL.
Cheers

Eaglesnest is going back too far in History. What he is talking about was in the 1970s/80s. It certainly was like that then but WT does not exist anymore. The current country zone is good for the WWTFC. Not sure yet what to make of our current city zone. It seems ok but hard to take losing traditional WWT zone. One thing we have is a top recruiting and development team. It shows with our juniors being in the mix most years and we have a high draft loss each year.

All 9 SANFL clubs have had equal zones well before the turn of the century. The Eagles don't have double the zone of everyone else.

It is no coincidence the lowest supported clubs (Eagles, South and West) have been shifted around the most over their history.

You can begin when Woodville was brought in in 1964. Then to compensate Torrens was given the north-east. Then it was taken away and handed to Norwood. Then the merger.

In more recent times, the Eagles lost Thebarton and that area to West in the early 2000's. Then when Port was turned into an AFL Reserves team, the Eagles were shifted out of the entire area west of the city and north of Trimmer Parade and even a suburb in Woodville was taken away. Glenelg and West the beneficiaries They have since been given a slice of the coastal area back to Henley Beach, beachside of Cudmore Tce and north of Henley Beach Rd.

The Eagles have taken over much of Port Adelaide heartland (good luck getting Eagles supporters from that lot - especially with the Magpies still in the SANFL) and have even built facilities in Wingfield of all places.

The club has still done a wonderful job of developing juniors and turning them in to AFL and SANFL League footballers, regardless of zones.

But yes, the SANFL have screwed over the Eagles, in both their forms, over the last 60 odd years. Hence they've gone from being the 3rd biggest club in 1963 (behind Port and Norwood) to one of the three smallest supported clubs. But, they've survived and prospered and the supporters who remain can be very proud of their club, which keeps battling on.
