R7 Glenelg v South

Postby DOC » Wed May 18, 2022 10:41 am

Saturday 2.10.

South coming off a narrow win and Glenelg coming off a narrow loss.

Glenelg should regain Partington, Proud and perhaps Virgin. South may get Milsolm back.

Glenelg won all 3 last year against South. South have a reasonable record at the Bay.

This game is there for the taking.

South by a point.

Bays will not get Partington and Proud back as they played against North.

Perhaps they will get Marker and Hodgeman instead.

Reckon we might get this one.

South generally play Glenelg oval pretty well.

Better talls in defence this year that can match the Bay tall forward brigade.

South by 10 points.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Cuppla decent outs for South.

Thriller. Bays by a couple of points after reeling in a hot panther start.

Fantastic to see Sladojevic get a league game. Has been handy in the reserves for a few years when available but is very injury prone. Hopefully he’s turned a corner and can stay on the park because he has some talent. Unfortunately I can’t see South getting the win, Bays by a couple goals.

A pretty tough day for South, they battled hard for almost 3 quarters before Glenelg strength shone through
South missing Gibbs, Rose, Wilkinson, Brownless, Heaslip, Fitt, Overall, Griffiths so playing half a dozen young guys who have 10 games or less
A couple of the above list out for season, couple others long term injury list at best so going to be challenging
I saw enough yesterday to think South can be mostly competitive, noting yesterday's loss was their biggest loss for year
Unfortunately missing any experienced players in reserves, so it is about giving opportunity to youth, many of who show much promise
Challenging times!!!

A poor loss to Glenelg has now put our season on the brink.
Poor decision making and in some cases some pretty ordinary skill errors cost us dearly.
Missing a heap of experienced players who would be first picked - Griffiths, Brownless, Rose, Fitt,Wilkinson, Heaslip,Overall, and a bloke called Gibbs doesnt help.
Also South have now had 17 players make their SANFL debuts so far this year.....
Danger game this week v West...... :?

Watching The game now having got my annual “Bass in the grass” call up for cricket due to player shortages, I was pooh…

We’re we’re OK but wasteful especially going forward if they ever gave premierships for kicking it on top of forwards heads we’d salute every time!

It appeared as if we never really got out of third gear apart from the last 15 min when the game was over which is not a good sign as the good sides like North, Sturt ad Eagles.

Lucky we were only playing South because if there were premierships handed out for running one way South would salute.

Harsh but true.

I guess they don't hand out premierships for choking otherwise you would be the reigning premier.
