R12 South v Adelaide

Postby DOC » Tue Jun 21, 2022 12:21 pm

Saturday 1.10

South had the bye last week but prior to that beat top side North by 2 points. Adelaide beat West by 6 goals.

Adelaide's league team is away which means perhaps one less AFL listed player but will still be around 18 or so AFL listed players.

No side has a worse record after a bye than South but it should have helped them. Broadbent and Haines played under considerable duress

First time around Adelaide won by 11 points.

Ben Heaslip will play his 100th game this week and has been playing more forward of late and I think this will continue. South will lose the Captain Matthew Rose (worst run of injury, all different, that I can recall a player having). If available Ramsay should come back in and continue in defence.
Nick Kramer who missed the last game due to illness should be available but may not squeeze in. The long term injured getting closer to playing, Fitt, Tucker and Griffiths may see time in the reserves this week or next.

South by a point.

Four point game this one.

I'm expecting Adelaide to slide in the last half of the year as injuries start to bite, players are "managed" and early surgeries are planned ready for 2023.

If the South want to play finals this game is crucial
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

4 point games
This is just my opinion on why people allude to 4 point games
Its a fallacy- in my opinion

The SANFL has 2 points for a winning games

If its not a draw :
The winner advances by 2 points
the loser stays on the same points

Summary
Barring draws , you can have 4 point games , in the AFL

BUT, if you are a game behind your opposition and win you are level, if you lose you are 2 games behind, hence the 4pt scenario!

Stampy I know what Ambays means
He needed to post of a 4 point 'swing around ' not a 4 point game

And to be further pedantic , Ambays didnt factor in a draw

I don't actually know for sure but I would think most unlikely. That would make it a one week hammy.

I'm hearing Matt Crouch will play in this one. Agree with the general consensus here that there won't be much in it; Adelaide by 12 points.

Crows ended up winning 15.17 107 to 7.6 48.

Surprised how much that blew out, and it actually should've been more, with the Crows kicking 4.10 in the last quarter.
