Yeah but Brett Turner got a valuable light run, which is all that matters. Well done Bays!

Went to it. Was underwhelmed. Not nearly as much to see as there was at the last exhibition 5 years ago. Still better than going to watch a Clowns reserves game.

While most are disregarding Adelaide for the premiership I am not so certain. Very impressed with them so far.

They have a coach who probably wants to win the flag and has been there before. He has a very good squad, if it stays intact, and there are no AFL finals to worry about.

The quality of Adelaide's finals squad might depend on the attitude of the Adelaide hierarchy. They may want some glory for the club and players given the past few miserable years.

Without permits they will only have about a dozen players eligible for finals

There will also be Adelaide players who will be put in for surgery and those who will elect not to play finals due to the risk of injury impacting on their trade to another club (M Crouch). Chad Cornes refused to play for us in 2011 finals as he knew he was being picked up by GWS (not that it would've helped us)

With the AFL sides finishing by the end of August they will be wanting to maximise the six week compulsory AFLPA break and allowing Burgess to give the group a good 8-10 week prep phase before Xmas

I'm pretty sure they had more than 12 eligible during their finals campaign in 2019? Also, they have had, and unless there are injuries over the next few weeks will continue to have, a pretty consistent side for the bulk of the year, so they shouldn't have too much trouble qualifying players. They are also getting a decent contribution from some of their top up players, which hasn't always been the case. It is certainly possible that Brad Crouch, like Jacobs in 2019, may refuse to play if it is clear he is leaving the club, but that isn't known yet, and he is unlikely to qualify anyway due to playing more AFL than SANFL games, so it probably won't be relevant. I agree with Brendan, and was only saying the same thing to my wife after Saturday's game; they want to win it.
