By the end of 2013 Port was arguably the worst performed team in the SANFL. Had the longest finals appearance drought and longest finals win drought, IIRC.

After 2014 the team wearing the former Magpies guernsey made 3 of the next 6 Grand Finals, being within 6 points of the premiership cup in 2 of those matches.

Coincidence?

Lucky we didn’t try

Well actually yeah, the Glenelg grand final (2019 IIRC) in particular was a most un-Magpies-like effort. The old Port would have had the hunger to win all three, and done so.

According to the Central District match "write up", there was a crowd of 676 at the ground. This is a record low for a Centrals league game (and I assume for a Port Reserves or Port Magpies game). What a disgrace the SANFL is. Lucky their support staff was there, probably added 70 to the number.

One could argue it was un-Glenelg like ;)

Can't win em all, in fact we have lost more GF's than we have won.
