I feel gutted for the boys.. but there were enough good signs to be more confident going into next season.
We pretty much matched it with three of the top teams: Glenelg, Norwood and Sturt in the past four weeks.

In fact, still three goals up at the 24 minute mark... pays to never let up; the match isn't over until the final siren.. unfortunately :(

That loss really hurt we were the better side and deserved to win.
Unfortunately we couldnt get it done but the boys did us proud they had an absolute crack
To finish on the same win loss as last season was disappointing but with 4 losses by less than a goal suggests we are not far off.
Im assuming by the reaction of the boys when Luke Habel kicked his goal in the third quarter that he is finishing up.

That really sucks......................
BUT onward & upward, really looking forward to the recruiting season,
lost to South, Sturt, Norwood & Glenelg by 4 points or less shows improvement.
Let's see what Meggsy & Ross can pull out of the hat over the summer.

Definitely sucked.....hope Ross and Meggsy can get some quality recruits
because the majority of the current crop are disappointing.
McCormack has been good,Beuchner just above average.
Fraser been at the club for a bit now and is extremely frustrating.
Fort gives away too many silly frees and has kicked 12 goals 16 this season.
Grace needs to work on his kicking,in 2 seasons he's kicked about 60 goals 60.
Grant and Reeves are young and maybe they'll improve but aren't what we need.
Neagle bros, especially Matt have struggled to impact at league level.
Olsson doesn't do enough, poor skills and doesn't like body contact.
Llewellyn gives his all but can't kick and doesn't get much of the footy...he's just a stopper.
Kendall shows glimpses as a fwd or a backup ruck.
Billy Iles has been one of the good ones, hopefully he hangs around .

If we are going to improve we need to better than these current recruits I've mentioned.

Thats a good assessment .Apart from the usual ones eg Presbury,Hoskin & Schiller ,Montgomerie has been excellent.
How do you rate Shaw & Lange ?

Yep some of this seasons recruits didn't deliver but its tough in a new environment first up. Look at Billy Iles; played all season in the twos with one league game and now will be a Top 6 finisher in the league BandF.
Reckon this year has seen big progress from Lange Montgomerie Iles and Llewellyn with Cowham and Whitelum showing they are up to the level.
Shaw and East have set a platform and hopefully can take it to a new level next season. Looking forward to seeing what Tyson Richard, Dudley and Deakin can do in 2023 now that they have a taste, and Ethan Gant (still a kid) finished the season in the twos with a couple of crackers and has a skillset that will make him a handy league player.
Can't wait to see Barreau back (one of our best 5 players).
Plenty of solid role players... just need a couple of top notch recruits, one in ruck and one elite mid.

Plus a 100% fit Nietschke.
Would be great to pinch a couple of players from local sides too,
get Glenn back maybe?
Would love to see Aaron Young at Centrals too!
But yes, we DESPERATELY need a dedicated ruckman.
Nothing wrong with dreaming hey.

Billy Iles was performing well last season,Thommo was selecting Haydon and Habel instead for some reason.
Personally I think we should spend more time looking for midfielders and a reliable fwd than a ruckman.
We need 2 elite mids to help Trav and Pres.

IMHO a tall marking forward should definitely be our number one priority. Our problem isn't so much getting it into our forward 50, it is converting once it is in. We won the I50 count in the majority of matches this season, particularly in the second half of the year. A couple of mids would certainly not hurt, taking the pressure off Trav and Pres, yes. The inclusion of a tall marking forward would also help our mids by giving them someone to look for, straightening up our game. A ruckman would be handy but not our number one priority, certainly not a tap ruckman anyway. Over 80% of taps are ineffective in most matches of football; we have won Grand Finals roving to the opposition's ruckman. If we are going to get a ruckman, then it needs to be a mobile one who can take marks around the ground.
Cheers

Wow, we absolutely stole that. To be honest, Centrals probably should have been a bit further up, but just left the door slightly open. We need one hell of a lift across the board or we'll be straight out next Sunday.

Thought Maxy was Huge for four quarters with his work taking relieving marks and marshalling our defence. A large number of our 35 D50 rebounds due to him.

McBean stepped up in the last half and then Hosie did what the Hose does best.

More disposals, more marks, more hit outs more clearances more I50s maybe we did deserve to win it?
