As an AFL listed/contracted player would you be sanctioned for doing that in an AFL match? If yes, then that might be why he’s “under investigation”.

Adelaide defender Billy Frampton has accepted a $750 fine after an incident during the third quarter of Sunday’s Qualifying Final against Norwood at Adelaide Oval.

Frampton was formally sanctioned due to a breach of Regulation 15 – Disciplinary, for gesturing to a member of the crowd.

He will be available to play in Sunday’s Second Semi-Final against North Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
