Some positive news in a pretty underwhelming off season recruiting wise.

The club has stated that they are going to promote the kids and focus on country zones, avoiding recruiting ‘for the sake of it’

However, to be competitive in this competition you have to have half a dozen experienced A Grade players.
We are no where near it….

Would of been easier and more believable to say "We don't have the money to recruit so we'll promote within". Going for a 5 peat of spoons and 9 out of the last 18 takes some doing

50 thou taken from salary cap makes it hard to recruit
Never rains but it pours very hard to support the club but I will

Pretty sure that West are being penalised 50k for their precarious financial position.
Both Westies and my own club endured similar a couple of years ago.
Not sure how you are to lift yourself off the bottom and become competitive and successful and financially viable with a 50k handicap.

So we now have a competition in 2023 with..
7 teams starting on apprx 400k
2 teams starting on 6 mill
and 1 team at 350k

...seems fair..

Disgraceful if that's the case. They seem to get hit a fair bit at draft time and now this the other way.

West financially have been very strong over the last two seasons (I haven’t seen this years financials)

Have achieved a net surplus of $1 mill in the last 2 years and are in a comfortable equity position

Not sure that is correct, most clubs turnover $2m+, not sure reducing their cap by $50k is going to either make or break any club

They're stacking their side with plenty of ex AFL talent, including Jarrod Lienert, obviously.

194cm ruck/forward that we were chasing from Tassie has signed up with West,
there's a bit of positive news for them!

Closer to the beach.

The West Adelaide Football Club is very excited to announce the signing of Dylan Bramich for season 2023.

Dylan is a Ruckman and Key Forward who played his football for the Penguin Football Club in Tasmania last year.

Standing at 197cm tall, Dylan is a very good contested mark and uses his agility to his advantage when in the ruck.

We are thrilled to have him wearing the red and black, and will no doubt be a fan favourite.

“I am very excited to be joining the West Adelaide Football Club in 2023. I have been training for about 2 weeks now and have loved the culture. All players, coaches and staff have welcomed me with open arms and have made me feel very comfortable, which is important when moving interstate. The club is heading in the right direction and l can’t wait to be part of it” said Dylan.

“Adam Hartlett has been fantastic! l look forward to playing under him, it’s a great opportunity l have been given. l’m determined to work hard and put together a strong 2023 campaign”.

Welcome to the Bloods Dylan!
