Great effort by both sides today. Really enjoyed watching the last 1/4 development side. The league played well. To bad Lauren Young will go to the power in the next couple of years

Round 2 Hostplus SANFLW Match Wraps
from sanfl website

West Adelaide 6.7 (43) d North Adelaide 4.8 (32)
West Adelaide superstar Lauren Young propelled her team to an upset 11-point win against reigning premier North Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.

Without Young for last year’s Hostplus SANFLW League campaign due to a knee reconstruction, the Bloods fell to bottom place having played in the 2021 Grand Final.

But with the dynamic 17-year-old back on board, West is looming as an early front-runner having sprung to a 2-0 win-loss record with wins against Glenelg and the Roosters.

Young – who finished with 21 dispsoals, seven marks and two goals – was also constructive with her possessions as evidenced by the unselfish chip over the top which led to teammate Tamika May kicking the sealing goal 10 minutes into the fourth term.

Richmond AFLW recruit Illish Ross also had an impact for the hosts with 11 disposals and a goal while Jessica Macolino (19 disposals) and Zoe Venning (17 disposals) found plenty of the ball.

The Roosters had hard-running pair Katelyn Pope (23 disposals) and Jess Edwards (20 disposals) driving them forward while ruck Isabelle Starmer was again solid with 18 disposals, six tackles and 20 hit outs.

Glenelg 5.6 (36) d Woodville-West Torrens 4.4 (28)
Glenelg survived a late surge from Woodville-West Torrens to record its first win of the Hostplus SANFLW League season at Hisense Stadium.

Battling hard to establish a comfortable 19-point lead at the final change, the Bays were seriously challenged when Eagle Chloe Newton booted her second to trim the margin to seven points with just under 15 minutes to play.

But an important steadying major to Lucy Armitage, who controlled the ball nicely in traffic near the goal square, ensured the Tigers would hold on for the premiership points.

Piper Window, the Round 1 Powerade Breakthrough Player, continued her top form with 23 disposals and 10 clearances while Glenelg teammates Ellie Kellock and Tess Kohn (17 disposals each) also contributed strongly.

Tigers Chelsea Packer (two goals) and Matilda Scholz (12 disposals, 15 hit outs) made successful returns after missing Round 1 with minor injuries.

Eagles gun Shineah Goody (18 disposals, six tackles) did her best to drag her team into the contest with a classy goal assist to Newton before booting the final major of the game. Experienced teammate Beatrice Devlyn also racked up 18 possessions.

South Adelaide 3.5 (23) d Norwood 3.0 (18)
South Adelaide hung tough to hold off a fast-finishing Norwood outfit by just five points at Flinders University Stadium.

The Panthers looked to have a comfortable night ahead after Lucy Northcott barged through for the opening major before second-gamer Lily Baxter showed off her finishing skills with two goals from long range.

But Baxter’s second in the fourth minute of the second term would be the hosts’ last of the night as their scoring dried up after half-time.

Redleg Najwa Allen wound back the clock to kick the final two goals of the game, the second a freakish finish on her left foot from a challenging angle.

It brought the visitors within five points with nine minutes to play but South – with Caitlin Couch, Czenya Cavouras and Senna Gulden prominent – did enough to keep Norwood at bay.

Redleg Sarah Branford led the way statistically with 23 disposals while speedy Tesharna Maher (19 disposals) and former Panther Tahlita Buethke (16 disposals) refused to concede.

Sturt 8.8 (56) d Central Districts 2.7 (19)
Sturt rebounded from its Round 1 loss to produce a convincing 37-point win against Central District at Thebarton Oval.

Coming off a sluggish defeat against the Panthers last week, the Double Blues – powered early by Abbey Rigter – burst out of the blocks to boot four of the first five goals of the game.

The visitors’ extreme efficiency to convert attacking forays into scores was illustrated by them remarkably having two fewer inside 50 entries for the match while also recording just six more disposals.

Consistent veteran Georgia Bevan was named her side’s best with 11 disposals, nine tackles and a goal while exciting rookie Monique Besson (16 disposals) and ball magnet Alisha Gepp (17 disposals, seven tackles) also made their presence felt.

Central’s Jovanka Zecevic (18 disposals, five tackles, five clearances) and Charlotte Riggs (16 disposals) did their best to stem the tide but couldn’t prevent their first loss of the season.

Development Scores
Sturt 3.7 (25) d Central Districts 2.3 (15)
West Adelaide 3.2 (38) d North Adelaide 5.6 (36)
Norwood 1.10 (16) d South Adelaide 1.2 (8)
Glenelg 8.5 (53) d Woodville-West Torrens 1.3 (9)

Round 3 Hostplus SANFLW League Match Wraps
from SANFL website

Central District 5.3 (33) d Norwood 4.7 (31)
Central District’s Jasmine Evans produced a stunning piece of play to secure a dramatic two-point win against Norwood in Round 3 of the Hostplus SANFLW League at X Convenience Oval.

With her side trailing by four points in the final term with 80 seconds left on the clock, the 17-year-old nearly took an eye-catching one-handed mark from teammate Katelyn Rosenzweig’s long ball to the top of the goal square.

As soon as the ball hit the ground, Evans pounced to dodge around her opponents and dribble through the match-winning major in traffic, much to the delight of the Bulldogs’ faithful.

Central captain Shelby Smith was industrious with 26 disposals, eight tackles and four clearances while teammate Caitlen Teague had 17 disposals, 11 tackles whilst booting the goal to put the hosts within a kick late in the final quarter.

Norwood, which has agonisingly lost all three of its games by less than a goal, received strong contributions from former Panther Tahlita Buethke (18 disposals, five clearances) and hard-running midfielder Lana Schwerdt (17 disposals).

North Adelaide 12.8 (80) d Woodville-West Torrens 2.6 (18)
North Adelaide bounced back onto the winners list with an emphatic 62-point win against Woodville-West Torrens at X Convenience Oval.

Fuelled by a four-goal haul from Jaimi Tabb, the Roosters gained valuable percentage when they went on a third-quarter rampage which yielded 6.3 while keeping the Eagles scoreless.

Former Crow Tabb booted a major in each term while fellow forward Sky Jensen chimed in with three of her own as seven Roosters registered their names on the goal-scorers sheet.

North co-captain Jess Edwards had a significant hand in the victory with 25 disposals, three tackles, three clearances and a goal while midfielder Katelyn Pope and ruck Isabelle Starmer each tallied 23 possessions.

Without a win after the opening three rounds, the Eagles were well-served by former Rooster Poppy Waterford with 20 disposals and five tackles as well as skipper Annie Falkenberg with 18 possessions.

South Adelaide 4.5 (29) d West Adelaide 4.3 (27)
South Adelaide is the only undefeated team in the Hostplus SANFLW League after producing an exciting two-point win against West Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

Trailing at half-time and three-quarter time, the Panthers refused to give in as fourth-term goals to Jordann Hickey and Kyanne Campbell sealed a memorable come-from-behind victory.

Tackling-machine Senna Gulden stood firm for the hosts with a game-high 19 disposals, 10 tackles and eight clearances while South teammates Brooke Boileau and Holly Ifould each registered 16 possessions.

Despite the best efforts of Bloods star Lauren Young (23 disposals, six tackles), Illish Ross and Zoe Venning (18 possessions), it wasn’t enough to prevent the visitors’ first loss of the season.

Glenelg 9.4 (58) d Sturt 4.5 (29)
Glenelg livewire Piper Window continues to impress as she played a major role in her team’s clinical 29-point win against Sturt at Thebarton Oval.

Having secured the Round 1 Powerade Breakthrough Player award, Window has stepped up her output since as she captures the attention of AFLW scouts.

The granddaughter of Central District Magarey Medallist Gary Window finished with the eye-catching stat line of 29 disposals, eight tackles, seven clearances and three goals as the Bays led at every change.

Tigers captain Ellie Kellock collected 21 disposals and a goal while Crows-listed Brooke Tonon had 17 disposals as the experienced Chelsea Packer kicked two majors.

Sturt’s Kiera Mueller led the way on the stats sheet for her team with 16 possessions and six tackles as former Power forward Tessa Doumanis kicked two of the Double Blues’ four goals for the game.

Development Scores
Norwood 9.5 (59) d Central District 1.1 (7)
South Adelaide 5.6 (36) d West Adelaide 3.5 (23)
Woodville-West Torrens 5.8 (38) d North Adelaide 0.2 (2)
Sturt 5.5 (35) d Glenelg 1.5 (11)

Round 4 Hostplus SANFLW Match Wraps
from sanfl website

Glenelg 8.4 (52) d North Adelaide 4.6 (30)
Glenelg catapulted to the top of the Hostplus SANFLW League ladder with an impressive 22-point win against reigning premier North Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.

After losing their first match of the season to West Adelaide, the Tigers have since strung together three victories in succession against the Eagles, Sturt and Roosters.

Now boasting the best percentage in the competition, the Bays have also shown off their potency as crafty veterans Chelsea Packer (four goals) and Caitlyn Swanson (two goals) booted six of their team’s eight majors in Round 4.

Leading at every change, Glenelg welcomed back Power-listed Sarah Goodwin – who had 25 disposals – while Piper Window (21 disposals) and Ellie Kellock (17 disposals) also had an influence.

North co-captain Jess Edwards showed her trademark resilience with 18 possessions and seven tackles while Hannah Ewings finished with 14 disposals, four tackles and four clearances in her first appearance for the club since the 2022 Grand Final.

Sturt 6.6 (42) d West Adelaide 5.5 (35)
Two goals in the dying stages of the fourth term proved to be the difference in Sturt’s gutsy seven-point win against West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.

The Double Blues had their backs against the wall when Bloods’ key forward Tabby Saville kicked truly to open up a five-point advantage in the 12th minute of the last quarter.

But the visitors – who were confronting their former coach Bruce Dawes for the first time – came up with match-winning majors to Alysha Healy and Tessa Doumanis to earn their second win of the season.

Sturt midfielders Georgia Bevan (27 disposals) and Alisha Gepp (26 disposals) were industrious throughout the contest while valuable utility Isobel Kuiper had her strongest game since returning from a knee reconstruction to register 21 disposals and 11 tackles.

Former Power-listed forward Doumanis kicked three of the visitors’ six goals for the afternoon.

West defender Lucy Boyd continued her bright start to the 2023 campaign with 19 disposals and six marks while Zoe Venning had 18 disposals and nine tackles.

Star Port Adelaide player Gemma Houghton finished with two goals from her four kicks, three marks and five tackles in her opening appearance for the Bloods.

Central District 8.7 (55) d South Adelaide 3.5 (23)
Central District proved it is the real deal for 2023 after upsetting previously-unbeaten South Adelaide by 32 points at X Convenience Oval.

Suddenly boasting a 3-1 win-loss record, the Bulldogs are well-placed to earn their first SANFLW League finals berth after registering victories against the Eagles, Redlegs and Panthers.

Bursting out to a commanding 20-point lead at the opening change on the back kicking 4.2 to 1.0 in the first quarter, the hosts overcame a goalless second term to pile on another three majors in the third to set up their triumph.

Fan favourite Katelyn Rosenzweig celebrated her 50th SANFLW League game with two goals for the Bulldogs while captain Shelby Smith (24 disposals, 14 tackles) and impressive youngsters Laitiah Huynh (22 possessions) and Elaine Grigg (20 disposals) were also prominent.

South debutant Taylah Levy – signed by the Crows AFLW team last week – made an impression with 18 possessions, while Senna Gulden racked up 17 disposals and four tackles for the visitors in their first loss of the season.

Norwood 6.10 (46) d Woodville-West Torrens 2.3 (15)
Norwood opened its 2023 account in fine style with a dominant 31-point victory against Woodville-West Torrens at The Parade.

Having lost their opening three matches by less than a goal, the Redlegs did everything in their power to ensure this trend would be broken by slamming on the first five goals of the game.

At the same time, the hosts managed to keep the Eagles’ scoreless until Channy Mitchell kicked truly during the second minute of the last quarter.

Celebrating the milestone of much-loved captain Ali Ferrall, Norwood had six goal scorers as it benefited from the presence of Power-listed Ebony O’Dea (27 disposals, nine clearances, one goal) and Jade Halfpenny (22 disposals, 12 marks, one goal).

Still searching for their first win of the season, the Eagles were well-served by young star Shineah Goody (21 disposals, six tackles), captain Annie Falkenberg (17 disposals) and Yasmin Duursma – sister of Power wingman Xavier – who had 16 possessions and eight marks.

Round 4 Development Scores
Norwood 4.7 (31) d Woodville-West Torrens 4.4 (28)
South Adelaide 7.8 (50) d Central District 0.0 (0)
Sturt 5.7 (37) d West Adelaide 3.2 (20)

Round 5 Hostplus SANFLW League Match Wraps
from sanfl website

South Adelaide 6.4 (40) d North Adelaide 3.11 (29)
An efficient South Adelaide bounced back in eye-catching fashion with a crucial 11-point win against North Adelaide in Round 5 of the Hostplus SANFLW League.

Relishing their opportunity under lights at Flinders University Stadium, the Panthers had fewer scoring shots and fewer inside 50 entries yet managed to bank the premiership points after suffering their first loss of the season in Round 4.

Leading at every change, Rick Watts’ charges made their move in the third quarter with goals to local youngster Lily Baxter and Flagstaff Hill debutant Mel Anderson while restricting the Roosters to just two behinds.

South ruck Soriah Moon was again a significant presence in the centre square and around the ground with 17 disposals and 10 tackles while Jaslynne Smith (26 disposals) and Brooke Boileau (19 possessions, six clearances) also proved a handful for the visitors.

North’s AFL-listed star Hannah Ewings loomed large when she kicked the first goal of the game inside 55 seconds, before finishing with 22 disposals and eight tackles.

Roosters Katelyn Pope (23 disposals) and Kalani Bates (19 disposals) also battled hard but couldn’t prevent a second consecutive loss.

Woodville-West Torrens 8.9 (57) d West Adelaide 2.8 (20)
Woodville-West Torrens stormed to its opening victory of the season with a convincing 37-point triumph against West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.

Laden with an 0-4 win-loss record, the Eagles looked anything but the early favourite for the wooden spoon by opening up a two-goal lead at the first change.

Adding goals to Shineah Goody, Grace Martin and Ashley Baker in the second quarter, the visitors created a match-winning 33-point buffer by half-time.

Goody was high among the Eagles’ better players with 23 disposals, five marks and five tackles while Power-listed Abbey Dowrick filled her stats sheet with 29 possessions, four tackles and five clearances.

Emerging Eagle Jemma Charity was the only multiple goal scorer on the ground with three.

West’s Zoe Venning – playing in her 50th SANFLW League game – fought bravely for 20 disposals and seven marks while star Bloods utility Lauren Young tallied 22 disposals, six tackles and seven clearances.

Norwood 6.5 (41) d Sturt 4.8 (32)
Norwood outlasted Sturt to claim a hard-fought nine-point win in a momentum-swinging encounter at The Parade.

Leading by four points at quarter-time, the Redlegs suddenly found themselves trailing by 13 points at the main change after managing just three behinds in the second term.

But three goals in succession – one to Shai Hiscock and two to Najwa Allen – shifted the trend of the match back towards the hosts as they kept the Double Blues to just four behinds in the second half.

Power-listed Sachi Syme had the ball on a string to record a game-high 26 disposals while Tahlita Buethke (16 disposals) and Georgie Jaques were also lauded by Redlegs officials.

Sturt’s experienced midfield pairing of Isobel Kuiper (23 disposals, six clearances) and Georgia Bevan (19 disposals, nine tackles) was high on the visitors’ best player list.

Glenelg 7.5 (47) d Central District 2.3 (15)
A strong second-half performance earned Glenelg a statement-making 32-point win against Central District at X Convenience Oval.

Coming off a commanding win against reigning premier North Adelaide in Round 4, the Bays now sit comfortably at the top of the Hostplus SANFLW League ladder with a healthy percentage of 61.8.

Despite only holding a two-point advantage at half-time, the Tigers put the clamps on the Bulldogs by keeping them to just three behinds for the rest of the match while piling on 5.3.

Glenelg’s Sarah Goodwin – who was traded from Port Adelaide to cross-town rival Adelaide last week – was the dominant performer on the field with 33 disposals, nine marks and six tackles.

Tigers Piper Window (21 disposals, two goals) and Madisyn Freeman (20 disposals, one goal) hit the scoreboard while finding plenty of the ball as their captain Ellie Kellock applied a game-high 11 tackles.

Central named Madison Lane as its best contributor, with 16 disposals, while Jovanka Zecevic was almost as prolific as her rival Goodwin in finding the ball to tally 32 possessions for the hosts.

Round 5 Development Scores
Woodville-West Torrens 3.7 (25) d West Adelaide 2.4 (16)
Norwood 10.4 (64) d Sturt 5.3 (33)
South Adelaide 5.7 (37) d North Adelaide 2.4 (16)

Our club's junior program has resulted in 3 players playing in North's squad this weekend, 2 in Norwood and 1 in Centrals. Whilst 3 have made the U16 or U18 state teams.

Very happy with the way the girls (now ladies) have developed as players, given where they started.

Best of luck 'girls'.

Round 6 Hostplus SANFLW League Match Wraps
from sanfl website

South Adelaide 3.6 (24) d Glenelg 3.5 (23)
South Adelaide has secured top spot on the Hostplus SANFLW League ladder after overcoming Glenelg by one point in a thrilling top-of-the table contest at Flinders University Stadium.

Lily Baxter proved the hero for the home side when she kicked truly from a set shot to regain the lead with less than two minutes remaining.

Both teams emerged with injury woes. Panthers’ acting captain Nicole Campbell was on crutches after injury forced her to leave the game, while highly talented attacking defender Tiger Sarah Goodwin damaged her ankle late in the opening quarter.

The Tigers kicked the opening goal after two minutes, and added another 11 minutes later. Tigers defender Brooke Tonon was outstanding as the visitors grabbed the early momentum.

However, the Panthers kicked the next two goals to lead by a point at half-time after a heated second quarter.

There would not be another goal registered in the hard-fought battle until Ella Boag put the Tigers in front 16 minutes into the final term.

Baxter then slotted the match-winning goal after handy leady up work from the Panthers.

Central District 7.1 (43) d North Adelaide 5.8 (38)
Central District climbed to third on the Hostplus SANFLW ladder after a stunning come-from behind Round 6 triumph over North Adelaide at Prospect Oval.

After failing to score in the opening quarter, while conceding 4.4 to the Roosters, the Bulldogs trailed by 29 points 15 minutes into the second quarter.

Rooster Cristie Castle nailed two goals in the first quarter and midfielder Jess Edwards racked up the possessions as the home side seemingly set a course for victory.

But the response from the Bulldogs was emphatic with Barossa teenagers Jasmine Evans and Sophie Eaton having a significant influence in attack. Julie Teakle joined the party to bag three goals in the third term.

The Bulldogs’ defence also lifted, showing tremendous composure in the final quarter when the Roosters constantly went inside 50.

The Roosters failed to add to their score from seven minutes into the second quarter until Sarah Steele-Park goaled midway through the final term to ensure a tense battle for the premiership points.

The win was the fourth for the Bulldogs, while the reigning premiers have only two wins and a game plus percentage outside the top four.

Norwood 5.3 (33) d West Adelaide 3.9 (27)
Norwood inflicted more pain on injury-ravaged West Adelaide with a hard-fought six-point win at Hisense Stadium.

The Redlegs, who started the season with three successive losses by a combined nine points, are just percentage outside the top four after winning the past three. But for the hapless Bloods, they have now dropped their past four games.

The Redlegs bagged the opening two goals of the encounter to have the Bloods on the backfoot immediately.

The two sides then traded blows on the scoreboard, with the Redlegs leading by only two points at half-time.

Experienced Morgan Johnston was highly active for the visitors on a wing, gaining 22 disposals and recording six marks and four tackles, along with defender Hannah Dunn.

Talented Bloods youngster Zoe Venning again showed her liking for getting her hands dirty around the contest, amassing 32 possessions.

She finished with eight marks, three tackles and three clearances, and had tremendous support from Keeley Kustermann (27 possessions, five tackles, six clearances).

There was just one goal kicked after half-time, courtesy of Redlegs’ Kaitey Whittaker’s effort 90 seconds into the third quarter.

The Bloods scored the final four behinds of the contest as they pushed for a much-needed win.

Sturt 10.12 (72) d Woodville-West Torrens 1.6 (12)
Sturt’s roller-coaster ride this season continued at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval when the Double Blues conquered bottom-placed Woodville-West Torrens by 60 points.

The Double Blues conceded the opening goal, having registered five behinds, to Brianna Walling after seven minutes.

But it was all the Doubles Blues, who have yet to claim back-to-back wins this season, from then as they took fourth spot on the ladder.

Isobel Kuiper was busy for the visitors, compiling 24 touches and five tackles, Monique Bessen had 22 possessions, six clearances and kicked a goal and India Rasheed had 22, including three clearances, seven marks and six tackles. Rasheed also kicked a goal.

The Double Blues bagged three goals in the second term and completely extinguished any hope of an Eagles’ revival with a four-goal effort in the third.

Georgia Swan nailed the first two goals for the Double Blues and added another just seconds before the half-time siren.

The highest possession winner for the Eagles was Marlie Fiegert with 20. She also had five clearances and laid eight tackles.

It's hard to fathom that South are top and have a percentage on the wrong side of 50.

Round 7 Hostplus SANFLW League Match Wraps
from sanfl website

Norwood 7.6 d Glenelg 2.1 (13)
Norwood made an emphatic statement in the Hostplus SANFLW League after conquering Glenelg by 35 points in a powerful performance at Stratarama Stadium.

Claiming a fourth successive win, the Redlegs kept the Tigers scoreless for three quarters to be third on the ladder.

Najwa Allen bagged three goals, including two in the opening quarter when the visitors took control of the contest, in another impressive effort to climb to top of the goal scoring list.

Tahlita Buethke and Lana Schwerdt were prominent for the Redlegs, while the tone for the game was established in the first term when the Tigers struggled to move the ball into attack.

The Redlegs put 21 points on the scoreboard in a dominant opening quarter, before the Tigers responded in the second with two goals and a behind. Incredibly, it was the only term in which they impacted on the scoreboard.

South Adelaide 1.4 (10) d Woodville-West Torrens 1.2 (8)
South Adelaide took a significant step closer to the SANFLW minor premiership after escaping with a two-point win over Woodville-West Torrens at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

The Panthers managed just one goal, but the two premiership points have moved them a game clear of Central District and two above Norwood, Sturt and Glenelg

In testing wet and breezy weather conditions, the Eagles seriously challenged the Panthers in a performance which belied their bottom-of-the ladder status.

The home side, led by a productive Abbey Dowrick, put two behinds on the scoreboard, before Ella Little took advantage of a free kick at the top of the goal square to slot the major after 14 minutes.

Central District 10.10 (70) d West Adelaide 2.4 (16)
Central District enhanced its reputation as a serious title-contender after overwhelming West Adelaide by 54 points at Hisense Stadium.

Led by a brilliant opening quarter from elusive Elaine Grigg, the Bulldogs amassed their highest score in the SANFLW and earned their biggest win over the Bloods to grab second on the points table.

Grigg had six possessions in the first term and nailed two goals, before kicking the first major of the second quarter.

With Julia Teakle also on target, the Bulldogs blew the game apart with three goals in five minutes in the second quarter. Their efficiency was outstanding with three goals from their first five visits inside 50 for the term.

Zoe Venning was her usual busy self for the Bloods, but the home side struggled to match the intensity and pressure of the Bulldogs.

Maria Moloney was outstanding for the Bulldogs, along with tough onballer Shelby Smith.

Sturt 6.4 (40) d North Adelaide 3.8 (26)
Sturt improved its hopes of finals action with a convincing 14-point victory over North Adelaide in the grand final rematch at Prospect Oval.

The Double Blues claimed the vital premiership points on the back of a powerful first half display, putting 5.2 on the scoreboard and keeping the reigning premier goalless.

Alex Ballard was outstanding for the visitors, picking up a team-high 24 possessions and kicking a brilliant goal from a set shot nearing half-time to give her side a commanding 29-point buffer.

The Double Blues had the territorial ascendency in the first half and took advantage of a super efficiency to bag all five goals in the first half.

The Roosters showed plenty of fight in the second half, but the damage had been done, and they have dropped to two games plus percentage outside the top four on the ladder.

Ella Quinn was busy for the home side, amassing 30 touches, while Katelyn Pope, picked up by Port Adelaide in the AFLW supplementary draft, was again prominent.

The Double Blues are fourth on the ladder, courtesy of superior percentage over Glenelg.

It was to be the end of the scoring for the Eagles, however.

Laquoiya Cockatoo-Motlop was dangerous in attack for the Panthers, although she wasted a couple of prime scoring opportunities in adding three successive behinds.

Appropriately, it was Brooke Boileau who nailed the match-winner in the third term. The Eagles were penalised for holding the ball and coughed up a 25m penalty for failing to correctly deliver the ball to the opposition.

Boileau had a huge influence with 20 disposals and 10 tackles and she capitalised on the 25m gift to kick a terrific set shot goal.

Young Tiger Piper Window continued her outstanding form this season, amassing 20 possessions and 10 tackles to have the fourth-highest disposal tally in the League.

Round 7 Development Scores
South Adelaide 5.4 (34) d Woodville-West Torrens 1.7 (13)
North Adelaide 7.8 (50) d Sturt 5.4 (34)
Norwood 7.11 (53) d Glenelg 3.0 (18)
Central District 4.7 (31) d West Adelaide 2.4 (16)

Round 8 Hostplus SANFLW League Match Wraps
from sanfl website

Central District 8.2 (50) d Sturt 7.4 (46)
Katelyn Rosenzweig emerged as Central District’s hero when she kicked a major on the goal line in the final seconds to give her side a four-point victory over Sturt at Wigan Oval.

It was her fourth goal for the contest and the win has given the Bulldogs a stranglehold on second spot on the Hostplus SANFLW League ladder.

After failing to register a goal for the first half, the Bulldogs went on the attack in the second half to bag eight goals and make another significant statement.

Captain Shelby Smith, as is often the case, sparked the Bulldogs into action on the ball. The Bulldogs got on top in the clearances and took advantage after half-time.

Isobel Kuiper was a driving force for the Double Blues, who nailed the only two goals of the first half, both in the first quarter, while defender Alex Ballard was her usual resolute self and India Rasheed finished with three goals.

The two sides traded blows in a highly entertaining second half and the result hung in the balance until the final siren.

North Adelaide 6.9 (45) d Norwood 6.7 (43)
North Adelaide breathed life back into its season with a nail-biting two-point win over Norwood at The Parade, repeating its round one clash when the Roosters won by the same margin.

Sky Jensen emerged the hero for the Roosters, nailing a soccer-kick goal with just two minutes remaining to put her side eight points up after the Redlegs threatened to over-run the visitors.

Momentum swung between the two sides in the first half, before the Roosters grabbed the ascendency in the third term with the only two goals of the quarter.

Jess Edwards showcased her class with a massive impact for the Roosters, Brittany Perry was outstanding and full back Kristi Harvey stood firm.

But the Redlegs, led by Ebony O’Dea and Tahlita Buethke, refused to lie down and they fought back with four goals in the final quarter.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the reigning champions and they are now just a game plus percentage outside the top four.

The Redlegs, coming off four successive wins before the Round 8 battle, are fourth on the ladder, courtesy of superior percentage.

Woodville-West Torrens 6.9 (45) d Glenelg 1.6 (12)
Woodville-West Torrens has some new entries in its record books after conquering Glenelg by 33 points at Stratarama Stadium for just its second win of the season.

The margin was the Eagles’ biggest win over the Tigers, while the victory was their first at the Bay.

The Eagles established the platform for the win in the first half when they built a commanding 27-point half-time buffer on the back of relentless pressure.

The most potent tackling side in the league, the Eagles unsettled the Tigers with their attack on the body and they laid a whopping 93 tackles.

Abbey Dowrick amassed an incredible 11 tackles and her Eagles teammate Leah Cutting 10.
Poppy Waterford was brilliant for the visitors, while small forward Grace Martin bagged a career-high three goals, having entered the contest with only one for the season.

Ellie Kellock was prominent for the Tigers and talented youngster Piper Window’s impact for the home side increased when moved into the ball in the second half.

The loss is a setback for the Tigers’ finals hopes, and they are now hefty percentage outside the top four on the ladder.

South Adelaide 6.9 (45) d West Adelaide 0.7 (7)
South Adelaide showed why it deserves Hostplus SANFLW premiership favouritism with an emphatic 38-point win over West Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

The Panthers trailed the Bloods, coming off five successive losses, 30 seconds into the second quarter and were being seriously questioned by the visitors.

The rest of the contest, however, provided the Panthers with an opportunity to justify their lofty position on top of the ladder as they went to work in style to secure a seventh victory for the season.

Indy Tahau kicked the opening goal of the game late in the second term, before her Panthers teammate Lucy Northcott goalled early in the third.

The Panthers added another five behinds for the third quarter, then rammed home four goals in the final term when the Bloods went scoreless.

Zoe Venning continued to rack up possessions for the Bloods, finishing with a game-high 29, as well as five tackles, Lauren Young was her usual busy self and Ruby Ballard had an influence in defence.

Taylah Levy was the highest disposal winner for the Panthers with 19, while sisters Litonya and Laquoiya Cockatoo-Motlap were damaging in defence and attack respectively.
