Hey BD, what's the criteria here. Jayde is a girl from our club but she's 15. Others from our club playing at North or Norwood aren't listed.

Fantastic effort by her as well given she's only played 3 or 4 years.

My oath she is. She's tiny but packs and punch.

But, but, but.... I was meaning, I can't see anything on North's site. The 2023 squad doesn't include her.

They only list the notable inclusions and exits. Most clubs have a large turnover of players every year and won’t mention every personnel change. South for example had a training squad of 60+ until this week when they made their first cut.

Round 5
Saturday March 25
South v North (Flinders University Stadium) – 6pm

Star Signing - Jordann Hickey
Enticing Jordann Hickey back to Noarlunga looms as a significant coup for the Panthers.

By their own admission, South has rarely targeted opposition players but Hickey and her Eagles teammate Charlotte Dolan were the exceptions for coach Rick Watts this off-season.

A strong presence inside attacking 50m, Hickey will give the Panthers’ genuine structure up forward while also thriving on spearheading the club’s relationship with the Alice Springs’ Pinktails team.

One to Watch - Bella Rigby
South coach Rick Watts is genuinely excited by Willunga prospect Rigby, who was recently named in the SA U16 Girls Academy for 2023.

Despite being aged just 15, Rigby is well-versed in playing against mature-age women having played in Willunga’s 2021 Senior Women’s flag.

Expect Rigby, as well as Victor Harbor’s Lily Baxter, to taste SANFLW League footy early next season.

Round 4
Saturday March 18
Central v South (X Convenience Oval) – 12pm

Round 5
Saturday March 25
Central v Glenelg (X Convenience Oval) – 12pm

Star Signing - Elaine Grigg
The lightning fast small forward is a significant signing for Central District, arriving after playing in last year’s SANFLW premiership with North Adelaide.

A master at causing a turnover through her defensive pressure, Grigg’s arrival will soften the blow of missing fellow star teenager Georgia McKee for the season with a knee reconstruction.

Bulldogs coach Ben Hunt as flagged a move into the midfield could be the next step for Grigg, who will relish the space at X Convenience Oval.

One to Watch - Sophie Eaton
She might only be 15 but Sophie Eaton hasn’t taken long to make an impression at Elizabeth.

Joining the senior squad’s pre-season training, Eaton’s kicking style quickly captured the attention of senior coach Ben Hunt.

Booting more than a goal a game in Freeling’s senior team in 2022, Eaton will be worth keeping an eye on when she lines up with the Bulldogs.

Round 4
Sunday March 19
West v Sturt (Hisense Stadium) – 12pm

Round 5
Saturday March 25
Norwood v Sturt (The Parade) – 12pm

Star Signing - Lucy Earl
The Double Blues rarely recruit from outside the confines of Unley but when Glenelg premiership player Lucy Earl showed interest in a transfer, Sturt was happy to accommodate the 26-year-old.

Measuring in at 178cm, Earl, who has played 32 SANFLW League games, will give Sturt some size in the back half, with an ability to play on the talls and smalls.

Earl is keen to continue her family’s tradition at Oxford Terrace given her uncle Andrew Downes played 154 games for Sturt between 1978 and 1989.

One to Watch - Sophie Thredgold
Sophie Thredgold is a prime example of the exciting young talent continuing to flow through the ranks at Sturt.

A member of SANFL’s SA U16 Girls Academy, the niece of former club captain Chris Thredgold will be pushing for a SANFLW League debut in 2023.

The teenager’s running power has impressed coach Michael O’Connor, together with her ability to play multiple roles if required.

Round 4
Friday March 17
Norwood v Eagles (The Parade) – 7.30pm

Round 5
Saturday March 25
West v Eagles (Hisense Stadium) – 12pm

Star Signing - Leah Cutting
The biggest shock in the SANFLW off-season was the arrival of Norwood premiership ruck Leah Cutting at Oval Avenue.

Cutting, who became the first SANFLW player to chalk up 50 games with Leah Tynan in 2021, was seeking a fresh start after spending 2022 in St Kilda’s AFLW program.

Linking up with her former coach at Morphettville Park and current Eagles mentor Narelle Smith, the 30-year-old has quickly been installed to the leadership group as her new club’s vice-captain.

One to Watch
Lined up in seven SANFLW League games last year but Portaro has been earmarked to step her game up a notch in 2023.

Appearing previously as a small defender, the 16-year-old has impressed coach Narelle Smith on the training track to the point she may earn midfield time in 2023.

Star Signing - Illish Ross
The Bloods have pounced on AFLW experienced Ross after the 23-year-old gained employment in Adelaide.

Having previously lined up with Collingwood and Richmond, Ross is a left-footed rebounding defender who is sure to shine in the SANFLW.

Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers, Ross was a former junior Australian motocross champion.

One to Watch - Charlie Scutchings
Expect to see West’s Charlie Scutchings play a very different role in season 2023.

While the 18-year-old already boasts 29 SANFLW League games of experience in three seasons, she has more recently been used in a run-with role through the midfield.

New Bloods coach Bruce Dawes is eager to give Scutchings an opportunity in attack next year given she has already displayed promising signs during preseason training.

Star Signing - Tahlita Buethke
Watch out for Tahlita Buethke, who has traded in her navy socks for red ones, by joining Norwood for 2023.

The 20-year-old star midfielder will be a pleasant presence for the Redlegs, who narrowly missed the major round in 2022.

Buethke averaged 15.5 disposals and four tackles in 2022, suggesting she will be a difference-maker at The Parade.

One to Watch - Rosie Boon
Recruited this time last year to The Parade, Boon is an ex-basketballer eager to develop her craft with the Redlegs.

The 18-year-old is set to be trialled in multiple roles under new coach Brad Snell, who is keen to see how she fares playing in defence and attack, as well as the ruck.

Star Signing - Isabelle Starmer
After losing rucks Meg Ryan (Essendon) and Jamie Norup (retirement) during the off-season, North coach Krissie Steen found the ideal replacement in Central’s Isabelle Starmer.

Selected as the ruck in The Advertiser SANFLW Team of the Year, Starmer is set to also display her talent in key-position roles at either end of the ground in 2023.

This should see her push for selection in the next AFLW Draft, having been monitored closely by scouts during 2022.

One to Watch - Jayde Visser
Described as an ”incredible little footballer” by North coach Krissie Steen, Jayde Visser is ready to make her mark in the Roosters’ League team this year.

Recruited from Modbury FC, Visser has pace to burn and has been showing similar traits to star Croweaters junior Shineah Goody.
