Strong, bold call.

Just getting it done early to give Port plenty of clear air-time to deal with Kenny

He gets a playing group that is still a big finals /premiership contender. No doubt they will be considered amongst the flag favorites.

I suspect that Hand will, if he wishes, to be in very high demand as a coach. Any vacancy over the next 12 months or so he will be sought after.

Dont be so sure, a lot key SANFL people in club land saw how he went with the best list in the competition. May get an assistant coach role but it will be a long time before he gets a senior role again.

Glenelg's decision wasnt solely based on internal views of Brett Hand.

Really?

They knew for a long time that he was no good so they waited until 4 days before Christmas to appoint a new coach.

An interesting and novel approach. Probably a very costly method as well.

A lot of key people in SANFL clubland hold the view that the run of 19 wins on the trot was not achieved despite Brett Hand but because of him.

Who in SANFL clubland would tell their opponent what their perceived weakness was?

The run of 17 wins in 2021 is considered by most GFC supporters I know as misleading on face value. Several games we were probably lucky to win and even escape with. An almost charmed season that had every chance of being a Premiership season if the 2nd Semi went for 2 seconds longer.

Looking forward to seeing what the new coach brings, and hopefully a season where the best forward over the last few seasons is left up forward and not played in the Ruck.

Surely that's a recruitment issue, and not a coaching issue? Hannath was beyond horrible, what other option did Hand have? McBean's strength is his aerobic capacity and agility, which means playing him as a ruck/extra midfielder is hardly the worst idea I've ever heard

Cole, Minchin and Matthais (who I admit is more raw than a yearling at an abbatoirs stock yards)

Hands refusal to play Cole before rd 14 was staggering. We knew what we were going to get with Hannath in 2021. We started with Minchin in 2022 who was raw but had a crack at ground level.

When Minchin got injured in rd 6 it should've been Cole in not Hannath, with an eye to developing him for finals.

lack of game time in Cole cost us in finals time, as with more game time experience it would have meant we could have plaid McBean forward more.

However that would've counted for naught with our over possessive GWS style game plan as opposed to quicker delivery into the most potent forward line in the competition (Reynolds, Hosie, McBean)

confirmation that tickets at gate for an adult will be $20 for next season. Will be cheaper to buy on line.
According to a club CEO (Sue from Sturt) speaking on 5AA the increase was mainly justified on rising inflation adding to costs of staging games.
A couple of clubs expressed concern, but indicated that the move had broad support.

Up by $3. It was proposed to increase it by $5.

Makes season ticketed membership much more attractive.

Sue from Sturt would not care …. Affluent suburb of Unley.

It’s the working class/lower social economic suburbs that are going to suffer.
