And Another Season Comes to an End......

Postby Wedgie » Sun Oct 08, 2006 11:23 pm

Congratulations to the Woodville-West Torrens Football Club, what a phenomenal effort to keep coming back for another shot until they finally got there.
A show of true character, this one will be a special one for them.

On a personal note, as much as I hate cricket and despise the summer Im looking forward to a good break, including ressies, underage and trial games my estimation would be that I've seen approximately 40 games of SANFL football this year live. It all started back in the first week of February in Darwin and I can tell you it has been a bloody long season. Im actually glad its over and Im looking forward to a break (never thought I'd say that).

I did a quick count tonight and I've cropped, editted, re-sized and published well over 2000 photos this year, probably had to sort through something closer to 5000 to get those shots online (not to mention take them in the first place). I am honestly mentally and physically stuffed. Still have a few chores to do online but Im glad there's no more posting of stats and photos for 6 months. Im off to the lounge to collapse.

Have a great night Eagles fans!

The season couldnt come to an end quick enough for me - my Blue Boys gave a yelp every now and then but just couldnt get above a canter

Did and always do enjoy the banter though and it is one of the best things that makes our great game the best in the world.

Now I just hope for some decent recruits and a good coach - me thinks there will be some very heavy hoping though.

Well done again to the Weagles on the premiership victory !!!

And last of all well done to the Wedge man on this site !!!
It is what it is !!!

Dude, I reciprocate that, your match reports are phenomenal, Im always amazed at the summary people like you and others like Paul Horwood on the Roost (and now http://www.nafc.com.au too) do.

I tried to do match reports for the first year or 2 of the Roost and they went something like this:

"North won today"
or
"North lost today"

I think its an art and people like yourself and Paul Horwood do a much better jobs than some of the people that are paid to do it.

Yes, that's me, but replace North with Eagles.

I've said this before, but the regular picture takers such as yourself, blueandwhite, Dissident, Ryan Hothersall, and a couple of others that escape me (just let me know and I will include you in this post) really fill a big void in the world if SANFL photo taking and as I;ve told you Wedgie, I really admire and enjoy the pics.

Then of course there are great write ups that Macca19 does as well as NFC (well maybe more about Meesen than anyone else  ), as well as a few others who could provide much more insight to a game of football than I could ever dream of, really helps in that aspect of things.

To MightyEagles as well for his much appreciaited Eagles junior grade scores *looking in 1980TassieMedallists direction*

I'm going to miss people trying to name everyone here by doing this, just insert* your name below for whatever I should credit you for and I'll add you to the list.

Oh yeah, Adelaide Hawk for the updates on the scores, as we know, people interstate and overseas can view these straight away, even before the radio, hey TRB!

These are some of the examples of what makes this site so informative and worthy of many awards in its own right. :)

Great post Spelly, I think we all have something to be proud of with this site.
Every poster should stand up and take a bow, its almost a year old and is the best site in the world IMHO.
The moderators due a fantastic job and Diss my co admin is doing more work behind the scenes than I am to set up a brand new version of SA Footy which will blow everyone's minds apart with its new facilities which will happen soon.
We definately need to organise an end of season show.

Perhaps something in early November when all the B&Fs are out the way and before the Xmas season starts.
Maybe 2 events, one a Friday Night event for the pissheads and another on a Sunday arvo for the families.

No family friendly zone on the Friday night then? Get Savings and Loans on board as a sponsor for the night...

Sounds like a cracker of an idea, count me in for whenever it is.

The more pics (and coverage) the better guys, my dream is to come home on a Saturday night and have fans from all clubs post pics on this site of every games.
Mind you, people might realise how crap my pics are if others start coming to the party especially with decent cameras.
