R1 Sturt v Glenelg Saturday 2.10

Postby DOC » Mon Mar 27, 2023 11:47 am

The flag favorites travel to Sturt to open their season with a new coach.

Sturt beat Glenelg in the first week of trials. Not sure how strong each side was.

Sturt have recruited strongly and for me the pick up of Frederick was not only a surprise but a coup. Glenelg have also got a boom recruit in James Bell and I will watch with interest in how former South ruckman Cam McGree goes.

This should be a close one in front of a good crowd.

Early tip Glenelg.

Sturt will be using their superb new function room facility and no doubt boosting their hospitality budget in the process.
On field difficult to see a Blues win.
Glenelg have the key forwards in McBean, Reynolds and Hosie and a midfield that Sturt struggle to contain, based on last few years. Perhaps the gap is narrowing however.

Just want Sturt to kick a few more goals on average than last year and move the ball efficiently and quickly when possible.

Skill errors killed us four goals at least from direct turnovers.

I think we lost this game on Tuesday night when went for Leck instead of one of Searle, Stagg or Gerloff. To top heavy.

85% of our F50 entries waltzed straight out.
