Some random observations from the game

1. our frontal pressure to create repeat forward stoppage entries was very good. Lovelock, Stagg and McBean were leaders in this I thought for us last Sunday.

2. We were at our best when we played the yardage game and just got it forward to give our forwards opportunity through chaos ball. Allowed the lines of Gerloff and Allan to sit back and mark the “get this ball the **** outta here” kick by Sturt.

3. When we were cute and tried to handball to get it clear Sturts pressure created turnover and scoring opportunities for them. It’s aka ways been a yardage game.

4. First quarter set us up (der no sh!t Sherlock) but it allowed for a relatively stress free day (save for maybe five mins in the last until Allan kicked his goal)

5. Loved how it was Bails that dragged McGree for that free kick after all clear. Basically told him to start running to the bench

6. McBean didn’t get the scores but some of his crashing of packs and tackling allowed for loose balls for Hosie to take advantage of.

7. Sturt were very consistent in their effort all day (100+ tackles) but they spent a lot of petrol with the subsequent fatigue an obvious explanation for their inaccuracy in field kicking and on goals.

8. The Channel 7 shot of the Sturt bench in time on of the 2nd quarter was comforting for me, after the previous game you could see many of their boys were cooked. For them to fight the game out us a credit to them.

Was at the game thanks to a mate for having a spare ticket, was one of the most enjoyable games I've seen. Not as good as our 2018 drought breaker but still a cracking game of footy.

Nice turn out last night at the club for a merch signing session with the boys. Good queue of diehards from the sacred turf back into the club rooms with new merch fresh for signing.

Great vibe at the club and with Benny Moore flags wanted.

There’s been times when you could definitely say we’re haven’t all been “Strong and United” but not now. Perfect example of everyone getting behind the club and making a difference.

Mind you, we do have a few dissatisfied souls whinging about Premiership stickers and BBQS on the Glenelg Supporters Fb page. The big issues really…

Yeah the great Glenelg FC Civil War of 2023

Who'd s of thought having the score of us beating Sturt instead of the year could cause so much angst

I recall when we got the sh!ts up over not making finals instead of premiership stickers

welcome to the outrage society of the 2020s
