Rd 1 North v Central @ Prospect Oval Friday 29/3 1.40pm

Postby Wedgie » Sat Mar 23, 2024 5:39 pm

Central were the big improvers last year making the 2nd week of the finals, will they continue to improve?
North looking to turn things around after a disappointing 2023.
Central coming off 2 close wins in the trial games and North had a win and a loss both by a goal or less.
Note the slightly earlier start, see you there!

There will be a lot more expectation on us this year and honourable losses wont cut it.
We will be expecting to improve again.
Good test first up North at Prospect are always tough to beat and hopefully we can do it..

Expect a new look engine room in red white and blue, which may need a few games to gel..having said that the same might be said for the Cocks.. should be a good contest.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

The Good Friday games between Centrals and North have generally gone in favour of the home team, with all but one result going the way of the home team.

Centrals has the sole away win between the sides on Good Friday, which occurred in 2019.

The North list look stronger than I feared but there a couple of unusual placings.
van Huisstede and Magor are two omissions who would make the best North side. They must be injured.

North side looks strong.
I'm surprised Pearce is in, would even rather see Lange or Pres there. Hope this year he can work in with Grace and I'd be very happy to be proven wrong. I haven't seen the pre season game form, but to me Lange and Pres are potential match winners, hope they play.

Dogs backline looks top heavy.
Surely Pudney, Presbury, Dittmar and either Lange or Whitelum play.
Callinan and L.McLennan should start the season in the 2s.

Pearce showed enough in the last trial, and even brought in some defensive efforts to his performance. Deserved his chance, hope he takes it.

Callinan, Pudney and Louie will wait another day.

3/4 time

Central 10.7
North 8.9

Like Central ball movement from the backline

North had alot more of the ball but skills well below par, Central alot more cleaner

Great atmosphere here too, only game we might get more is if we have a nice day against Norwood.
Great game to watch and even the umpires are good, their interpretation of holding the ball is so much better than the AFL atm.
Geez Isiah Dudley is exciting for the Dogs, doesn't get much of it but when he does look out!
Central should probably run this out to win by 30 points, distinct advantage to the northern side where they're coming home.
