That looked to be the one of the weakest Ravens sides I’ve ever seen before and I’m pretty sure that most SANFL sides would belt them if they put that side out often. I’d be a tad worried if i was a South fan TBH

Difficult one to assess…South lead for all but the final 5 minutes, yet the wasteful visitors registered 10 more scoring shots from 27 more inside 50s. Really was a weak ‘no-name’ Ravens’ side though, so the win was very much there for the taking.

A few chances squandered in the dying minutes with Dunshea’s first kick of the match missing from 40 out straight in front, and then Bradley missed a very kickable attempt just a minute later which would have tied the game up.

Of the new-comers Arundell and Howes both showed enough to suggest they’ll be handy recruits, while the returning Draper also had his moments.

Just 7 of today's 22 also took the field in the final game of 2023. A new era begins..

Pretty decent crowd by Noarlunga standards.

From afar I thought the South ball movement and skills were very good, looked to be playing a faster and more attacking style which was great to see. This seemed to help players like Fitt and Wilkinson up forward. We did seem to get beaten at the clearances, especially as the game went on, and lack of bigger bodies will be an issue in that area.
Hopefully Davis comes back soon, as he will help in the centre, and Sid Draper could add depth here when he returns
South will need Davis, Mutch & Clavarino back quickly to help the kids.
Yes, the Crows were a weak side and we will likely get some hidings, but it was an encouraging start.
and yes, I might be looking through rose coloured glasses!!

A good summary. It was a fairly attractive game to watch with both teams looking to move the ball quickly. Agree that once winter hits and the games become more congested our lack of size around the ball will be noticeable.
