South folks, what's happening with Noah Howes? Named in all the reserves trials, now lining up in the magoos for round 1.
This time last year he was FF in the league side and mentioned as a potential SSP pickup.

As has become the norm in recent years, lots of new faces at Noarlunga for the season opener. Key outs from 2024 include Draper (x2), Mutch and Sampson (will be missed)
Looks a stronger team on paper, depth wise anyway. Can they kick a decent enough score to be more competitive this year?
South generally start the season in reasonable fashion at home, but expect the Blues to win by 4-5 goals

Coming back from a shoulder reconstruction. The worst dislocated shoulder we have ever seen.

He had a busted collarbone too at some point, didn't he?

Brad Jefferies playing against his old club. Couldn't get a go in Sturts league side despite winning the reserves Magarey.

Not that I am aware of. BUT their May have been a break/crack to the collarbone at the same time as the dislocation.
Had to wait almost two weeks for surgery due to the swelling.

Maybe it was in the under 18's I'm thinking of, pretty sure my boys have said he's had shoulder issues before.
Shame, because he can certainly play

There was too much other sport happening Saturday afternoon to fully take this contest in. Appears South were competitive for the most part but 8 goals on a sunny afternoon isn't going to win too many games.
Young Grocock (4 goals) showed glimpses late last season of what he's capable of. Also named in the best were Davis, debutant Ashley-Cooper and experienced heads Summerton and Wilkinson.

How is it that Matthews of Sturt is not suspended for the hit on Luke Bogle (15 min 40 secs first quarter)
Matthews with no eyes on the ball chose to bump Bogle who had eyes on the ball
In years gone by it was considered a fair bump, but not any more
Bogle out injured for 3 games
