Huge interest in this one
South
IN Tye Gander, Lachlan Gill, Hayden Kernahan, Will McCarthy, Ben Shillabeer
OUT Dakota Sterzl (Omitted), Brad Jefferies (Omitted)
WWT
IN Blake Hansen, Kade Herbert, Daniel Sladojevic, Patrick Weckert
OUT Zac Buck (Omitted)
Great to see Shillabeer back in the league side after 24 months cruelled by injuries. Well done to Summerton on his 150th.
South to start favourites for a rare time this season. Winners by 3 goals.

Been building for a win. Get a big chance this week. Shillabeer finally back is a testament to determination. Despite his injuries has. Not missed a game. He Borlace and Skinner give us three genuine tall forwards. Summo has done plenty of hard yards over the last three seasons. A great bloke on and off the field.
South by a point.

And now Summerton announces his retirement ar seasons end. This week his is 150th league and 248th game at League or reserves level as he remarkably plated 99 reserves games at the Eagles. I can recall doing the “whip around” to pay his transfer fee to help the club out.
He has been really good for us and I wish him well.

Eags best side for 6-7 weeks with some handy inclusions such as Herbert and Sladojevic. Still expect South to win as ATM we are the worst side in the comp. South by 3 goals as they will be too quick.

Maybe the Eagles should play in the women’s comp … the short season will suit them.

Solid enough win, set up by a 5 goal lead at quarter time. Eagles had the better of the second quarter but diabolical kicking for goal (Ballenden in particular) prevented them from making genuine inroads.
The dashing Gander with 3 second half goals on debut, and likely a tribunal visit after a late hit on Sinor. Plenty of niggle in the game there after.
Oliver Davis, milestone man Jake Summerton, Phoenix Hargrave, Tom Barrett (really like watching him) and Gander named best. Also thought Duncan was important.
Rowe the Eagles best in his 100th. They over possessed the ball (150 handballs) and skills were pretty ordinary.
Umpires paid a lot of soft frees, especially the bald one.

"..... likely a tribunal visit after a late hit on Sinor"
A tribunal visit usually means a 3+ suspension

Think it will be graded by the panel. Very straight forward, nothing raised. Probably 2 matches but 1 with an early plea.. played a great game otherwise.
Much and Rowe best for the Eagles for mine. Game was really closer than the final score reflected.
Borlace with a great grab and a couple of goals plus a handout to Gander showed that he has plenty to offer. That said I think he plays Reserves this week.
I don’t think South have had a great season by any measure but wins against Eagles, North and Port with 2-4 goal losses against the top three shows at least a level of improvement that was needed in the last 7 weeks.

I only saw the Gander incident from 100m away so it's hard to comment other than it'll get looked at.
Agree Borlace has been a nice find the past few weeks. I'm not across the qualification rules for reserves finals, but there might be some juggling of fringe players next week to ensure they're eligible??
757 the reported attendance. By my records that would be an all-time low for Noarlunga.

Result as predicted. Skill level was poor from the Eags and atrocious goal kicking in the second quarter stymied any chance we had of winning. South's intent was far better than ours.
On a very disappointing and distressing note, I am tipping that Joey Sinor has played his last game for the club. Concussed again in a courageous marking act, Joey had to be convinced to play again this year after a sickening clash left him with significant facial injuries in last year's Elim final.
Too courageous for his own good, dual premiership player Sinor epitomised the values of a leader and the Eagles. Loyal, honest, hard-working, skilful, committed and the ultimate team player, he will leave a gaping hole in experience at the club.
Finish this season already please.
