Well done to North, Glenelg and Centrals. Interesting that the Eagles appear to have peaked and in a premiership year. South is interesting - given they made the final five for the first time in years more than a 5% increase might have been expected. Alternatively, the 5% might be attributable to the cars around the oval initiative. At least the 5% increase gives Phil Herden a reasonable foundation to build on - he wouldn't have wanted a 30% increase in 2006 and then have to keep up a similar level of ongoing improvement!

From the figures I have, they would be all matches. (Double Headers divided by two)

Hopefully we can see a better increase for the Eagles next year - you'd think so.

Two useless peices of information here:
One: Westies' average crowd figure is also the year they won their last flag
Two: This is the 30,000th post on this forum

Who would've thought...

All games for 2006. I got the figures from a artical in the Wekly Times Messenger. It had a story with it, mainly about the Eagles small crowd increase, and West's downturn in crowds.

Anyone have North's average crowd for 2003?
It'd be an amazing jump from that year to this year.
Bloody bandwagonners that make it harder for me to get a beer or a sausage sandwich*!!

After a drop last year, its good that North went on the improve again this year, it'd be the only time in my memory that we've come 2nd in the crowd stakes. More than 1000 extra people go to North games in 2006 as opposed to 2003. Bloody bandwagonners!

Are you sure that this isn't because Rob Gerrard's Corporate Guests are now counted in crowd figures Wedgie? :D Since selling Clipsal I reckon this would account for about an extra 948 people a week.

Proof that Eagles fans stay at home  . A premiership year and no increase. Biggest minor round crowd, Rd 1 Central v Sturt: 7329. =D>

But, by the time we knew it was a premiership year, it was too late... watch the crowd increase in size next year! Like Westies crowds in 2004 according to their manager in the Messenger this week, "our crowds will go through the roof".

I was looking at crowds of the 89 season with Reba last week and strike me pink did the sturt crowds drop off after about round 8 to 10 when their loyal fans realised they were shit trucks.

Yes all clubs crowds are worse when losing but Sturt seem to vary more than others. INTERESTING!

Looking in my Footy Times yr book for 1987 i saw the same trend, they still drew OK against Port and Norwood even after they'd gone crap though.

I hope so...after the announcement of Rick and hopefully some quality players from around the league and elsewhere our Memberships can really take off, just like Norths ;)
