Sturt Football Club Members Update
Issued: Monday 20th November 2006

Recruiting Update

We are active in the market place for the right player, both in talent and character. We are not looking to recruit 15 new players, but rather add players of genuine quality or that fill a need.

The market at the present time is extremely competitive, the Club has extremely good networks and we have put together an extensive list of quality players who we are targeting. We are confident that we will add quality players to our list over this recruiting period.

The players listed below have committed to the Club for 07 and 08:

Luke Crane: 22 year old ex Tasmanian U18, super quick midfield player who dominated QAFL playing for Zillmere Eagles over the last three seasons, winning Club B&F each season.

Tristan Gum: 22 year old ex NAFC midfield player, 32 league games, good pace, highly skilled.

Ryan Darling: 21 yr old 6"1 midfield player from Blythe/Snowtown. Very talented, good mover and stand out country footballer in SA.

Brant Chambers and Sean O'Keefe have re-signed with the Club for the next two seasons.

He hasn't played at North for 2 seasons - he's been in Melbourne for study and work.

ah ha....in a members email, he has just been named as a recruit for 2007 and 08. Only 22 y/o too. Didnt think he was that young or is it a misprint???

anyway, welcome aboard Tristan, yet another one that sees the light :D

I was a Tristan Gum fan and am sad to see he's at North Adelaide but happy to see he's back in the SANFL system, perhaps at a club where he'll have more chances.
Definately showed some promise as a youngster so there's no reason he shouldn't walk into the Sturt side and have an immediate impact.
Good work by Sturt, he potentially could be a 100-150 gamer.

I was impressed with his ball winning ability and he was often a shining light in a pretty average North side at the time. Not sure where he'd fit into our current lineup but a good pickup for Sturt. Would rather have him back at North.

Think so, I think Rick came to use in 2004 although Massey was our assistant.

If I remember correctly, he didn't play too many games for North in 2005, after a good year in 2004. I think he would of struggled to get a Senior game next year. A few JUNIORS have gone passed him now.

I think Drebin said he was actually in Melb for 05 and 06, but i could be wrong.

All Sturt fans just hope he can enjoy his time at Sturt and look to play some good footy. :)

Definately needs to learn to commit the body to more contests. No room for him in Norths side with 1 or 2 already carried in that facet of the game. Certainly talented and would love to have him at the club as back up.

Rick always rated him highly. I must admit I beg to differ with him. He must go in harder.
