WWT supporters - rate Paul STEWART

I must say that as a Port AFL supporter i was disappointed that we took Paul Stewart with our 2nd pick. Have heard that hes highly regarded as a 19 year old wingman, but as far as i know hasn't set the SANFL alight. Started off this season in the under 19's and then Reserves as far as i know (few league games at the end of the season), and was affected by an injury late in the year.

For those Eagles supporters that have seen this guy play, how well do you rate him?

Too bloody good too play at the PAP'Ss, should lift the average IQ of the squad by 10 points with his inclusion :D

Very athletic, skills good will do ok.

Ronny brings most through on a 19's 5 games , reserves 10 games then if opportunity there , leagues side

Well I guess he hasn't been a standout because he has only played two matches - of course in the GF, his 2nd, he was off injured after 10 minutes.

But wouldn't he need to be a "stand out" player to get picked up at pick 23, otherwise it would be a gamble surely.

Granted but he may turn out a better player than Shaddock who you traded with Brisbane and brought back home to Adelaide .

Have some faith in YOUR FOOTBALL team Ron Fuller can find talent wether they excel at the next level needs to be seen .

Who cares how he plays for POrt. As long as he plays in another Eagles premiership! The PAFC is a joke! What a disgrace! Taking players from other clubs because the Magpies aren't good enough to produce your own. The PAFC - a pretty good club from last century....

GWW Paul Stewart could be something but Mick Moylan is an idiot for wasting pick No.23 on him.

Zak Heir on the other hand is a gun.

Cant believe he wasnt drafted.

Great pick up by the Power. Not that I'm a fan of the Power but they have chosen wisely with their pick. Will be a very good player given the chances as he proved with prowess in the SANFL finals series. Has taken some of the best forward line players of the SANFL to the cleaners and will be keen to strut his stuff in the big time. If Port doesn't give him the chances he deserves the Eagles will be very keen to give him a game. Good luck Paul.

Usually up there in the best when played in the unders, if he wasn't any good, Port (or any other club for that matter) wouldn't have picked him up.

Interesting they took him with their second pick. Is reasonably well built compared to Westhoff and a couple of others. Would be looking for him to play the year after.

MD - I agree about Hier, and Sam Jacobs too. Watching the Channel 10 coverage, all the focus was on speed and athleticism - see the number of ex-basketballers picked up. The focus is, and has been for some time, rather than those with good footy nous, which those too boys have. I guess the AFL clubs believe, having players under them full-time, that they can teach footy smarts.

I wouldnt be disappointed about using an early round pick on Stewart. He is the complete package. Size, speed, skills, decision making, versatility. Will likely be a 200 game AFL player if he dedicates himself to his craft.

Blinded

Agree with most views, Hier (WWT) and McIntyre (NA) were tall strong lads and cant get a look in, you must feel for kids like this when a lad at 61kg's gets picked up over two very strong and hard working backman. For the sake of these kids you do hope they get placed on a rookie list and get their chance.

I think Hier and Mcintyre were only ever going to be either late picks or rookie picks. Id say both have an excellent chance at being picked up in the rookie draft. I can see one of them going to Port.
