Salary Cap concerns

One leading and very, very financial SANFL club has some "grave" concerns on it's ability to stay under the Salary cap due to 2 very recent close looks by the SANFL at the books based on it's recruiting in 2006. As a result apart from some "home grown" talent returning, it will not be the big spender come recruiting after the pre-season/rookie draft is done on Dec. 12th as everyone would think it might be!

Mail also is that the League "investigators" are sharpening their pencils for a good look at another club who were very active last year and have been throwing the cheque book around again this year?

You don't need to be "Einstein" to work out the two clubs mentioned above.

No, we'd get off, then write a book about what would have happened if we were over the cap.

"Leading and very financial" = North, cant be South,he said leading.

The other, obviuosly Port.Threw the money around last year, and have appeared to again this time round.

Clearly time for a review of the cap.The SANFL wants to be the second best league in the country, but wont allow the clubs to pay players the type of funds required to attract/retain these players.

Does the "grave" refer to the club that 'Graves has left or gone to?

My guess, 1st club mentioned is North and 2nd club mentioned is Port.
Would tie in with what I've heard around the club that unless North get hit hard at the PSD again the only recruits would be Allan, possibly Livingston now Gill has been picked up and 3 or 4 of the North lads coming back from the AFL. Would also tie in the tight scrutiny they've been under and the fact that they've passed with no breaches.

South is not one of the clubs I mentioned and neither is it Centrals.

maybe a certain "western suburbs" club should stop squealing & slinging mud at everyone else, especially when the club employs 4 "Junior Development Officers", & their sponsor employs another 4 in "Marketing"- enough to make you want to vomit (& I'm not talking about their jumper  )

Thats only because all the sales manager jobs at clipsal have already been snapped up.

Plus trying to apply for a job as bar manager at Grand North is futile as they already have about six.

Here we go again with the Clipsal reference, this previously came up and we discovered that they don't sponsor any SANFL clubs only a basketball club in Murray Bridge and the car race in March.
From memory, in the past they sponsored the Eagles and North but we're not talking historically are we?

Tongue in cheek , not talking about who sponser who , more like what a major ticket holder at North used to own and run and who was employed.

Silent on Grand North? Confirming or Denying?

You're talking about the past when he owned Clipsal?
That was the dark ages when North were bottom and could win bugerall games, I don't remember anyone at the time saying we were over the salary cap?
Not with you especially seeing as Clipsal also sponsored the Eagles at the time.
If you'd made a reference to Mistral I might have understood your point, haven't heard too many employment stories there but I have heard when flying potential recruits out here they usually do get a tour of the Gulf on Mr Gerard's dinghy. ;)

6 bar managers at the Grand North? Probably sounds about right especially if they're not all full timeas the place is flat out and runs very long hours, probably be about the standard for any busy pokie establishment. Ive only ever been served out there by Chris Ladhams and Daniel Hargraves and I don't think either were bar managers, don't think Hargs has worked there for a long time either as I think he worked mainly at the Northern Tavern.

All clubs do it, try and get a beer at Woody oval in the club at Halftime, most of the barstaff are in the changerooms
