Greetings all,
I heard Graeme and Ken on 5AA talking about how Norwood are planning to move their pokies room over to North East Rd at Windsor Gardens. Does anyone know where the actual site is that they are looking at getting?
The old Furniture Works factory next to Bunnings is the only vacant site that I know of in Windsor Gardens on North East Rd, there is a vacant restaurant which used to be known as the Charcoal Grill, yet that is located in Gilles Plains rather than Windsor Gardens.
It sounds like an interesting idea, I am told that the hotels in the inner eastern suburbs dont do all that well with revenue from poker machines, so that is why Norwood are looking into shifting into the north eastern suburbs.

IIRC it's the old Pizza Hut next to HJ's on North East Road.

Isn't Windsor Gardens in Rooster's territory?

Norwood WILL NOT have pokies at Windsor Gardens.
The proposed site at the old pizza bar is Gilles Plains.???

Yep, its definately Gilles Plains, should be North's area but isnt, I think Norwood have most of the North Eastern suburbs including Golden Grove, christ knows how when they're the only club in the eastern suburbs.

I checked on Whereis.com and these are the distances from Tea Tree Plaza to the nearest SANFL grounds,
TTP - Norwood Parade 14.79ks, 17min,
TTP - Prospect Oval 15.2ks, 18 mins,
TTP - Elizabeth Oval 15.56ks, 17 mins,
I was surprised to see that Elizabeth was the same distance as the other two and would be closer if you were going from Tea Tree Gully or Golden Grove.
If you are able to travel by car a 17 min drive to the footy shouldent be that big a problem, yet if you were to go via Trans Adelaide that might cause some problems.
It seems that the Western Suburbs have three sides, - Westies, the Eagles and Port, yet Eastern - North Eastern have only Norwood who are located right on the border with Sturt and North Adelaide.
The SANFL is all about Local Footy, so I think it would be good if Norwood looked into playing some games at Ridgehaven at the Oval on Golden Grove rd, where the amateur club Modbury currently play. The North Eastern suburbs are huge in population and it seems blacked out in SANFL coverage.
I have lived in Modbury for only a few months, yet the connection in the area seems to be more with the North Adelaide footy club than Norwood mainly because of their facility on Grand Junction Road which is not far from North East Rd. I am not sure where the boundaries are, yet North Adelaides area must run parallel to the areas around Modbury at some point, which may be why the area has some connection to the Roosters.

This will answer all your queries as its been answered comprehensively by Gilly previously:

Following is a "map" showing old and new boundaries. More information is available in the Information Booklet produced by the North Adelaide Football Club (see links below).

Metropolitan Information Booklet (Pages 1-21)
http://www.nafc.com.au/common/uploaded_ ... rt%201.pdfMetropolitan Information Booklet (Pages 22-37)
http://www.nafc.com.au/common/uploaded_ ... rt%202.pdfCountry Information Booklet
http://www.nafc.com.au/common/uploaded_ ... ooklet.pdfThe second document contains contact details for the development officers for all zones in case you don't live in the North Adelaide zone.
Paradise is probably Norwood and Woodcroft would be South Adelaide. The child's mother's home address is generally used to determine zoning unless the child lives with the father more than 50% of the time.
Also try checking Norwood and South's websites for information about Junior Development.

I'll have $100000000 on bullshit. Its going opposite the Hogs Breath Cafe, next to Hungry Jacks, where the Pizza Hut used to be, then it was two other food places, now its an empty building. Its painted some stupid orange colour so that will need to be painted something less ugly. As soon as Norwood won their appeal or whatever it was, a temp fence went around the building that very day.

Theres no oval on NE Road. Theres only one oval at the school, (a damn big one), and its always used. Everytime I go past theres always people and classes playing cricket, football, ogball, and quite often that WallaRugby thing.

I think there's a bit of confusion here.
Norwood are moving their pokies. That's it, from what I thought. Not their clubrooms, nothing like that. It's purely a pokie venue.

That's funny coming from a Magpies supporter. It won't take long for us to have something more that the 3% you ccurrently control of Alberton.

As its already been mentioned its Gillis plains. Although Windsor Gardens is pretty much next door, its not windsor gardens and out mates on 5AA are getting them selves confused.

It will be good to have an SANFL presence in the North east – even if it is only a Pokies venue.
It’s a growing area which means young kids and potential supporters and players….
Remember in 80s West Torrens were allocated the TTG area and considered relocating.
