Grand North

Greetings All,

On Friday night we decided at the last minute to go out for dinner, so rather than go to the usual Fasta Pasta, I thought I would give North Adelaides club on Grand Junction Rd Greenacres a go. I was quite impressed by the job that they have made of building that new complex, the food was great, the staff friendly and a great atmosphere to boot!

Although a Panthers fan I intend to get around to visit several of the SANFL venues as I think you are then doing something to invest into local footy. It would be great to see each club own several venues so that they might get significant investment to further the interests of the SANFL footy!

Well you can try our other venue next - the Northern Tavern although the meals are not as good as at Grand North but that will soon be rectified when it undergoes a big transformation inside and out due to the pending no smoking legislation.

I have to drive past the Grand North several times a week.
One day I stopped and had a look.
What a goldmine.
Great set up.
:drinkers:

I make a point of visiting the Eagles Club on Port Road once a week for dinner. The food is pretty good, and the pokies room is always over half full. Gold mine.

I might have to drop into Grand North one day. Is it the sort of place you can rock up to and find a seat easily? The Eagles club used to be like that, but it's starting to fill up.

I'm pretty sure South Road, Edwardstown is in Double Blues territory!

West tend to get a few juniors from Edwardstown footy club, so the boundary mustn't be too far from there.

I wonder how North's 'Grand Norf' will go now that the Adelaide City soccer club has just transformed the old 'Rams' clubhouse, around the corner on Fosters Road into a smart and trendy looking Bistro with pokies?

Interesting news, last I heard North and a few other publicans had protested against City's proposed place.
As a Rooster and Adelaide City fan I hope both places continue to prosper, which I think will happen especially when the 2 gaols get demolished for housing.

Upon your news I looked up Adelaide City's website to find:

THE OAKDEN CENTRAL : NOW OPEN!

Adelaide City Football Club's new community complex at Oakden, THE OAKDEN CENTRAL is now open!

Already touted as a potential award winner, the stunning $4.5 million development features 40 poker machines, sports bar, bistro, italian restaurant and outdoor decks.

THE OAKDEN CENTRAL is open to all Adelaide City FC members and to the community in general.

An official opening will occur in the first half of 2007.

Let's just hope they can somehow find their way back to the national competition where they belong so South Australians can finally have a championship winning team to be proud of.

Grand North will continue to trade very well and the Adelaide City place will also pick up its own trade and be very successful.

I have been into the new Adelaide City place and although very nice it is huge and lacks an atmosphere at the moment, but it will develop one.

I have spoken to the senior staff at GN and they are confident that both venues will do very well.

Took the family and 22 other friends to Grand North on new years day for lunch and it was full, so too the pokies as you had to wait for a machine to get onto. At the same time there was 2 cars in Adelaide City's car park, but they will develop their own loyal customers like GN have.

When the Jail gets moved out Murray Bridge way, and the land filled with houses, Grand North will become an even bigger goldmine.
