Reading the SANFL website and seeing that the day time League and Reserves are starting 20 minutes earlier this so Reerves starting at 11:15am and League starting at 2pm

Christ, they tried that and Sunday footy in the 90s, maybe they think if they keep rehashing old policies that didn't work it will look like they're doing something constructive, they must think we're stupid.
Perhaps they'll try having SANFL games on before AFL games next year.

Most likely however it's just a typo or something.

Would have to play last 2 quarters with no time on and start the clock for the final quarter at a set time reguardless if players are in position to advoid cutting last quarter reserves short.

With time on varying from quarter to quarter/game to game very difficult to predict a consistent full game finish time and in fact can result in 10 minute break between end Reserves and League players on ground (idea is 3-5 minutes).

When I time kept at League/reserves we (time keeper from both clubs) used following -on commencement of third quarter time keepers calculate time left to play (3/4 start to 2.08 or is it 2.12) - deduct 6.5 minutes 3/4 time break and half results ---- answer was the maximun length for last two quarters. - Note - even if third quarter was less the same time limitation the same maximun length for last quarter was still retained.

Believe is still the same.

maybe it has something to do with channel 2 & the fact they stop broadcasting at a certain time whether the game has finished or not

Good point, they did address it to a degree by moving ABC games earlier late least year but it meant there was varying starting times for each ground and maybe the SANFL wants it consistent again. A 2pm start would make it a lot easier for the ABC as there's a lot of editting, etc that goes into their production.

I personally wouldn't have an issue with it, a 2pm start would suite me more on Sundays especially (give me 20 minutes more time to get over my hangover before work starts the next day) but as I said, it was tried before, deemed a failure and moved back to 2.20pm due to troubles with people who work on Sat mornings or have kids sports committments getting there on time and from memory crowds did drop.

It would be better to make the Reserves start 5 minutes earlier anyway.

If both the last two quarters where the same, that wouldn't stop the possibility of someone from a team faking an injury so they have to be carried off on a stretcher, to waste time while leading in a close game. I am not sure if it has actually happened before, but I wouldn't put it past a team to do so.

i agree, television is just another fad that will die out soon anyway... just like money, the clubs need it now but it won't always be that way.

What in the world (assuming this is true) are the SANFL smoking?

The South/Glenelg game was cut short on ABC and that game started earlier!

I can't honestly believe that the SANFL (especially) and the ABC would go for this. The ABC is getting worse and worse with their demands.

Has happened many times mate - main issue is they (SANFL) do not want a long gap between the end of the reserves & beginning of League.

the reserves should start 10 minutes earlier then they do. i beleive that almost every glenelg reserves game (so i presume it happened) everywhere else was cut short by at least 5 minutes. there are three times which i can think of this having a bearing on the result with the team that was trailling finishing off much stronger and just missing out on a win due to the short qtrs. its surely not that difficult for the sanfl to adjust the start times accordingly
