East Fremantle has signed tall ruckman Michael Griffiths from SANFL club Glenelg.

The twenty-two year old stands at 208cm and joined the SANFL club in 2003 from Port Melbourne in the VFL.

Griffiths attracted some interest from AFL club Essendon in the lead up to the rookie draft a few years ago.

His height will be difficult to encounter in the WAFL and gives the Sharks some much needed height.

Can't say I've heard of this bloke and I don't recall any Bay supporters pushing for his inclusion in the senior side.

Griffiths arrived at Glenelg as a high-profile recruit from Port Melbourne at the start of 2003.

That year he played 12 League and 4 Reserves games.

In 2004 he was hampered by a knee injury which kept him to 5 League and 9 Reserves games. I think he had it reconstructed at the end of the season.

He returned to the reserves in round 13, 2005, where he played the rest of the season and was an important part of the team which made the Grand Final. He struggled to get back into the League side as we had good depth in the ruck with Cranston, Kirk, Herbert and Andrews.

League Summary:

17 games
66 kicks
42 marks
56 handballs
3 goals
3 behinds

Reserves Summary:

25 games
144 kicks
78 marks
93 handballs
9 goals
6 behinds

...thinks quietly to self....East Freo must have offered more than Norwood...

his plan near the end of the season was to head home to Port Melbourne. Spent most of this year recovering from a knee reconstruction. The fact the ruck stocks at Glenelg are pretty good at the minute it shouldn't be a problem. A couple of young blokes will probably come up to the senior sides to fill gaps as well.

Top bloke...gives his all, but I wish him well. He's not going to push for regular league selection at Glenelg. A very good pal of the Snouts...

Norwood tried 2 years straight to get him to play league and he turned them down to stay at Glenelg (to play Reserves)...that type of club loyalty is exceptional. 8)

Good luck Griff.

Yes, I am certain you missed that kick in the forward pocket that day and it should be 67 kicks...

I wish you could provide more details for us Ecky!
