Am I thinking what the SANFL is thinking?

Postby spell_check » Fri Jan 12, 2007 11:59 pm

With the abolition of the Mini League and the talk of starting games at 2pm; would I be right in thinking that the SANFL will think that having lots more opportunities to have a kick on the oval is what will bring the crowds back?

Will it really?

Speaking of that, rumour has it that at least 4 clubs are organising mini leagues of their own.
And that'll probably spread, why the league couldn't coordinate it and cut down on costs is beyond me.

Must admit, my kids will be happier to be able to have a kick at half time as they find the mini league boring. I suppose its a positive that the league will be catering to the hard core SANFL kids and dropping the kids who might only go once a year to play mini league. It might pay off.

I haven't been particularly fussed about the mini league disappearing, since my initial reaction of shock, as I head into past players functions at half time of all games. An extra opportunity to kick the footy with mini-smac would be great, particularly a longer break. Might be a good way to cut a few beers out of the day too.

To answer your initial question spelly, it appears to be a financial decision to cut the mini-league (by the clubs from what I understand, not the SANFL) so I doubt the SANFL were thinking what you were in the first instance.
