We have lost the Mini-League for 2007.....

I absolutely hate the Mini-League.......!

But this is BIGGER than me....!

You Don't Miss It until it dies...!!!

Not just junior players but umpires also....

Team managers, Medical staff ha...... How many people watch over any one team....., who knows....?

How many people does is take to make a team....?

Who Knows....?

My god..... It brings a community together......

It brings many communities together....

To fight against each other in competition.....

But when the cards start to fall over..... Everyone assists each other....!

In an emergency, there is only one team, not two...!

SANFL........ What Next.......????

What else are they gonna do at half time? :?
When I was a little tacka wearing the Black & Gold playing Mini League
& beating a team wearing Rooster's guernseys on Footy Park... :D
It didn't get much better than that for this little snot nose!
Kids love it, they get to wear their team's colours, play on SANFL grounds,
meet their footy heroes, pies & pasties etc.
It's a good diversion from their usual football season.
We all know the spectators don't give a shit, but who cares?
The SANFL must be mad scrapping this concept! :x

From memory, we lost to Ports on two other occasions!

the SANFL need to keep the mini-league as it is a good way of promoting the league to the youngsters.

the SANFL should be seeing the mini-league as kids first step into the SANFL system. If kids dont have that opportunity they may not play in the SANFL and more importantly they may never go and attend matches.

Absolutely. Every kid playing mini league brings at least one parent with him, possibly both parents, other siblings, and maybe even grandparents. The clubs fail to see the benefit this exposure brings to the league.

Would everyone just shut up about the mini league?

I recall when Mini League was introduced in 1969, nine of the ten clubs treated it as a competition like the league, seconds, U19s, U17s, and played the best U11 footballers in their area. West Adelaide in particular played the Aish brothers, Roger Luders, Leon Grosser, Randall Bennett etc.

The 10th club Norwood elected to play a different school side or local team each week instead and were belted week in week out. Norwood's theory being it was important to give as many kids as possible the chance to play on a league ground in front of a league crowd. In time, all the other clubs adopted the same policy.

I never played mini-league, but played on Norwood Oval from 1966 to 1968 when they played local U13 teams. I didn't care if anyone was watching or not, I just got out there and played. With the dwindling crowds at SANFL matches, maybe it's not so important for kids to play these matches now.

Yeah read Bones McDermotts article in today's Sunday Mail. I was thinking prehaps we could start an online petetion or simular and then send it off to the SANFL heirachy saying it is not on to scrap it, also the possible changing from SANFL to SA-AFL.

This subject was raised 2 months ago. :x I emailed the SANFL then in protest. :x Who else contacted the SANFL then. :?: In fact, when the SANFL responded to our schools zone rep, all they sent him was a copy of the reply they sent me! The petittion should've started back then! ](*,) I never got the chance to play mini-league as our school was never selected and now my lad will also miss out. He would much rather play "a game" with his mates than just have a kick with his old man, even if it is in an Eagles jumper!

little bayman is 7yo & he has been dying to be old enough to play mini league for at least 3 years (i take him every week) now he is shattered, i know he is in the minority of kids as most go to afl games if they go & wouldn't know it was on but the opportunity should be there for all kids, then they may realise that there is more than only 16 teams that play the game

From what Ive heard Glenelg, South, Centrals and possiby more clubs are going to organise their own mini league so there may be hope for little baman yet.

It is sad to see the mini-league go. However , why don't they still have the mini league but play it on only half the oval. The other half of the oval then could be used for some other form of half time entertainment . The clubs with the most vision will be able to come up with something.

I played one Mini-League game for Westies against North at Prospect and I enjoyed the match. I feel all little kids should get the chance to play Mini-League for their local team and it will encourage all kids to support their local team and might make the SANFL some real money instead of the AFL kickbacks.
