SANFL chases junior membership

JUNIOR memberships to AAMI Stadium are on offer for the first time as the SANFL blatantly pitches to hook more kids on to the great Australian game.

The AAMI Stadium Footy Game Points junior membership - released for 2006 - is open to footy fans under 15 years.
For $120, plus a $40 joining fee, junior members get entry to the members area at AAMI Stadium for all AFL and SANFL matches. Existing AAMI members can change over to the junior ticket without paying the joining fee.

Memberships are transferable any week to concession card holders or adults willing to pay a cash upgrade at the gate. And junior members can upgrade automatically to a full AAMI Stadium membership on their 15th birthday.

The league is keen to get more youngsters passionate about watching live football.

"We want to make memberships more affordable for families and let more kids see games at AAMI Stadium," stadium manager Sharon Stevens said.

Junior memberships are part of a range of AAMI Stadium membership changes.

Category I (Crows and Power), category II and category III memberships have been renamed "Ultimate", "Crows" and "Power".

Category I memberships (now Ultimate) will still cost $165.

Interesting. A good move but no doubt a few things can be changed...thoughts??? is it gonna work or???

I don't think the 120 plus 40 would come out of juniors pocket..? Makes sense that Mum and Dad "Ultimate", "Crows" and "Power" members would pay for their kids and there is nothing wrong with that. Interesting to see how many junior members they would have at that price..? Christmas/Birthday presents..? It's the best comp in the land. It's on free to air TV at present. The publicity for this product is second to none. What kid over the age of 5 doesn't know about the Crows or Power, compared to who are Centrals......?
The league is keen to get more youngsters passionate about watching live football. I thought the crows games were a sell out, so I don't know where they are going to fit them all in safety..? Ticket price rise coming 2007, one thinks..?

Personal viewpoint -

I'd like to have seen that as part of this deal the kids get junior membership of their SANFL club included - could have come out of the $40 joining fee say $20 to club and the league still get $20 for admin set up etc.

That way the kids still keep a link to the SANFL League clubs.
Will families say we can join the kids up to a stadium for good value but cant afford to pay extra now for our Eagles or Roosters or Dogs etc. junior/family/adult memberships?
