Increasing SANFL club membership

As usual various SANFL clubs are struggling to maintain membership numbers in competition with the Crows and Power. Not that this is a new thing though.
My suggestion is why not make SANFL club membership a mandatory requirement of having a members ticket at Football Park? The cost of the renewal would be increased by the cost of the membership of the club and a box would then have to be marked as to which SANFL club you wished to be a member of.
Thoughts?

Not a bad idea, I like the idea.

Also like the idea, you would need uniform pricing amongst the SANFL clubs though I would have thought ... Works on a few fronts though, obviously the $$ benefit to the SANFL clubs but also could sway a few people who have turned their back on this comp to think "Bugger it, Crows are playing in Melb and I've paid to be a member of the Bays (eg) so I'll go and take a look"
Members ticket

So does this idea mean every SANFL Members ticket at footy park or every season ticket holder at footy park or both?
The SANFL members at footy park are already making a contibution to the SANFL coffers surely? and have done for 30 years. The Johnny- come -lately CROWS season ticket holders would argue the dividend from Crows to SANFL would be their contribution also.

It'd be no different to making a South member take a membership with Morphett Vale or Noarlunga or a North member take a membership with Kilburn or Broadview.
Nice lateraly thinking (that has been brought up a million times) but no cigar.

Might as well be both I suppose, the more funds the merrier and considering the waiting list for both, I dont think too many people are going to give it up!
Each SANFL club owns a share of Football Park, it isnt unreasonable to suggest that it follows that each person who takes a membership or ticket aligns themselves to one of the clubs as their individual representation.

Why should a Crows or Power supporter have to align themselves with a SANFL club?
Does that mean if I took out a Geelong membership I'd have to pay a membership to a VFL club?
Ridiculous the more I think of it.

And increasing the cost of a $405 membership will go down well with lots of people!
You are certainly thinking Sojourner - I reckon you are bound to come up with a corker soon.

Can't knock his lateral thinking. Question Sojourner do you spend every waking minute thinking up these schemes and ideas? As smac said you are bound to hit the "target" eventually but I'm guessing your not a paid "sniper" or assassin as your hit rate would be very poor!

A good idea worth investigating.
How about this approach?
1. No extra fee for Crows/Power/SANFL members.
2. Checkbox on applications forms for Crows/Power/SANFL members to nominate their SANFL club.
3. Info passed to the 9 clubs.
4. Each club sends out a home match/season schedule to the people that nominated that club.
5. Include a letter pointing out games that are not conflicting with AFL games of Crows/Power or both.
6. Invite the person/s to attend those games. (Bring the family etc.)
7. No pressure, just some information.
It would take 20 minutes for someone to create an access database mail merge for doing all the thinking.

How about the clubs continue to do what they're doing right now. SANFL club mnembership is on the rise, don't start getting cocky and setting up grand schemes of punishing people financially and cornering them in to buying memberships for clubs they don't support

Perhaps a compromise?
Give a % discount off SANFL club memberships for Footy Park members and include an extra part to fill in membership details in their yearly application form?

Not a bad idea..
Also could have the idea of a % being dedicated to a club of choice where the Footy Park member is automatically a member of their nominated club, but another option of "No SANFL affiliation" and the Footy Park's membership fee that would have gone to a specific club gets split 9 ways.

no Wedgie but if you get an AFl Geelong membership it gives you free entry to all Geelong VFL games.
