Check this out! I'm jealous! - from the Norwood board

OK folks, here is a real surprise. A quiet summer for many being the off season and all, but a very busy summer for others.

Norwood is now the first SANFL club to offer "RedlegsTV" over the internet. It will be on line via the club's website soon but there are currently some pilot episodes on YouTube as a sneak preview, which you can source by simply doing a search under "redlegstv."

You will see highlights of the 1950, 1975, 78, 82 and 84 Grandfinals plus the game against Carlton in 1976 and a highlights reel featuring contributions by a few fans in the 80s. Hopefully these features will have particular appeal to our expat supporters like Locky, USA, JAS, SimonH and others, including country supporters.

These are just pilot features to whett your appetites because there is much more to be released. See how long it will take for the other clubs to follow through with this initiative - not even all afl clubs have their own internet tv option showing highlights, interviews etc.

There are a number of additional improvements that have also been developed for the website and these should begin to surface in the next few weeks. We've taken your feedback on board from earlier posts and we have spent all summer quietly attempting to meet your desires in terms of improving the site, and hopefully, exceeding your expectations.

The work to date has taken literally hundreds of hours over the off season by a bevvy of volunteers. Special thanks in particular to Dave Murrin, Kyle Smith, John Devaney, Peter McConnell, Jason Kendle and Gavin Williams, and advance thanks to Rohan Semmler for ultimately loading it all on to the site.

The website should never be static and it is hoped that this big refresh of the site will keep the fans - adults and juniors alike - occupied for endless hours at a time scanning through over 100 profiles of past and present players, over 500 pictures and images in galleries, and basic stats on all 1348 players to pull on a league guernsey for the club. In future, we will continue to build upon what will be very solid foundations.

Who knows - we may even arguably end up with the best website of any SANFL club soon and importantly, there will be a dedicated junior zone for all of our younger supporters.

There are a few more surprises in store also but I will keep them up my sleeve for the time being - keep checking the main website and if you have any feedback or constructive criticism, please let us know.

Far out that's awesome, well done Dissident, Norwood and all others involved, that would be great if all clubs did something like that. Love watching some of the older games from the 80's and 90's.

That's fantastic to see this happen. I don't believe I have seen anything like this for even a AFL club in particular - though there probably is as stated but I haven't seen them before.
And how about that - 3 Eagles fans got a mention in there, too.

IT'S A GRAND OLD FLAG

Fantastic work there Diss. Hearing that final siren to end the 75 Granny sent shivers up my spine, the only better sound will be when we get there again one day..I just hope we don't have to wait another 25years to do it. I'm less happy about the username Rik E Boy already being snaffled on You Tube though DOH.

regards,

REB

Excellent stuff by 3 or 4 regulars on here and the NFC. Great innovation!

In fact, seven registered people altogether! :D :D

A special thanks to the non-NFC supporters who were so willing and enthusiastic to assist with the RedlegsTV innovation and other projects to be a part of the refreshed website.

Thanks also go to Bob Walsh - the club's audio-visual assistant for his contributions.

Super stuff, congratulations to all involved a couple of points

First time I had seen any of the vision of the 1978 GF. I was at the Cowell Show that day, and we all barracking for Sturt (my brother barracks for them) my grandparents were still angry becasue Norwood beat them in the Prelim....

I will never forget listening to the radio in the last quarter as Norwood came back and back....

1982 well we were no chance after playing our GF the week before...the good thing about losing that GF was that we kept the man Barrie Robran calls the best footballer he has seen - Stephen Kernahan - in our great colours for longer

1975 hurts even though I was too young to be following football then, I just know we should have won more flags than one in the 70s when we made five GFs in that decade.

Good to see your vision was there Borat of our boys singing our great song at the Parade three clips down from the Norward Mega Mix....

Well done Norwood! I'm jealous too!

Showing highlights of past victories is a great way to increase supporters enthusiasm for a club and hence its value should not be underestimated. Its not just about having members, it helps a lot to have passionate members who are prepared to put time and effort in to help their club. Such initiatives will surely help this.

Other clubs please take note!

Just read on FSA, a post by GC i beleive saying that the NFC should think about copyright infringement.

Im guessing they would have thought of this before and got permission if it was necessary???

Well done to everyone involved .... those clips are great. With not all SANFL grand finals available to buy anywhere it's great to see some of that old footage again. The SANFL needs to look into releasing some back catalogue SANFL footage on DVD I reckon .... especially the grand finals.
