EAGLE NEWS #2

It was excellent to see a good crowd at Thebarton for our internal trial tonight. A competitive first hit out with even an FAD paid by the umps!

I may be accused of bias but I thought the lights at Thebby were at least as good if not better than the Parade and the ground itself was in excellent condition.

Also good to welcome Darren ‘Dutchy’ Holland back to the Eagles as an official – will be a club runner this year.

The Eagles could be the team with the most brothers playing in 2007 – Joe & George Pedler, Christian & Adam Grocke, Peter & Robbie Fiacchi. – (Spelly one for you).

It was great to catch up with David Westbrook during the week at training. Westie is looking very fit – all the work he is doing helping on the family farm – hopefully the situation will allow for Westie to be back soon.

For all supporters if you want to be on the bus to Victor for our first game against South Adelaide on Easter Saturday ring the club ASAP to book your seat - $21 return.

Trial games next Saturday vs Sturt at Thebby - then in a fortnight vs Norwood at the Parade. Our last trial vs North – at this stage at Thebby but dependent upon cricket may be at Woodville – to be confirmed.

Members watch for your newsletter in the mail very soon – at the printers at the moment – will have all the news for the start of the season.

If you want to attend the 2007 Player Auction Night on Saturday 31st March ring the club ASAP as only a few tickets left – bookings already very heavy. Will be a great night!

Then don’t miss the free Members Night on Tuesday April 3rd.
Both nights upstairs in the newly renovated function room – members you will be delighted with the improvements - looks fantastic with the Premiership Cup in pride of place! Make sure you get there on the 3rd – free food, free raffles, merchandise, news & interviews. Renew your membership or join up on the night.

Our website is being revamped at the moment – watch for the relaunch – coming soon.

Membership of our footy club continues to grow with over 1200 members on board for 2007 already. 195 more than the same time last year! Hopefully we are heading for another record membership year. If you haven’t yet renewed your membership or you want to join us as a new member just call the club for details or join online at our website.

Great value memberships are available saving up to $115 if you buy a season ticket.
Junior memberships from $11, Adult membership from $45 (concession available).
Pickup a brochure from the club, call Melissa on 8347 2444 for information or check out the website.

With Stuart Cochrane retired, it could be the case.

Anyone like to guess at what the big news could be. Could it be a new guernsey, a new club logo, a new recruit, naming rights sponsorship of Woodville Oval, a permanant move back to Thebby perhaps. I just don't know. C'mon Eagles release some more info I want to know.

Hmm, I know theyve got online shopping planned through thinkgroup like Centrlals have started but that wouldn't be big news.
I doubt a new big recruit would still be about now and naming rights to a ground isn't exactly earth shattering in this day and age.
New emblem or guernsey perhaps?
Mind you it'd be hard to see them change something that they just won a flag with.
Dunno?

Last nights game was taped by CD, but don't expect it to be released, as I have been told it is not the best of camera work.
A night game at Thebby maybe?

The lights at Norwood also look old. There has been some work on the lights, but not sure what.

You're not wrong about the Norwood lights. I refuse to stand near those things.
