went to the clubrooms and was very impressed by the set up.
Ricky VIDOVICH a CD brilliant full forward from the 60s was there
selling the club merchandise, he is a great bloke as well.
CD have the nicest set up in the league in my opinion, I always enjoy
my visits to the oval, and seeing old friends.

bays had plenty of the ball but failed to capitalise on the scoreboard, but
seemed to be playing better.

bays were playing well and had a willing target in DULDIG a man who
could be anything if he kicks straight
the LAIRD speech fell on deaf ears as CD began to run and share and dominate
and in a blistering final 10 minutes kicked 6 unanswered goals to win sensationally

Bays had some good smalls Byron MURPHY and Josh WILLOUGHBY and DULDIG who played well.
CD unearthed a forward in Jomathon GILES who kicked a few sausage rolls in the last quarter.
And as LAIRD said a good pair of hands.

Danny SCHELL is now a skinhead.
Richard DOUGLAS showed he is a clubman and was there with his bay mates.

CD have recruited well it seems and will be a flag threat
GL may struggle with no GIBBS, DOUGLAS for crows
worst of all the BACKWELL injury, he was on crutches not a good sight for the bay faithful.

As per my post on snouts, apologies to Central fans as i didnt watch your players.

Lost by about 3 goals after being up all day

Relatively happy for the full last 1/4 we were resting some of our best players, (Macca, Forrest, Rudolph, Duldig etc) who would have come back on presumably if it was a "real" game. Kirkby came back on with a few minutes to go.

Byron Murphy, one of our new recruits, was excellent and appears to have a bit of "Gowans" about him, more then happy to yap away and get close and personal with the opposition.

Scott (Mods) Lewis is also a good get. Had plenty of ball in the first 3/4, but looked pretty stuffed in the last 1/4. ALso hard @ the ball.

I agree that from about 50 metres away, he does look like "Modra". But not if you get any closer.

New ruckmen Tom "Strachnie" Treloar certainly loves getting down and dirty as well, layed a fierce tackle and did plenty of good body work.

Adam Fisher showed what he thought of Elizabeth by throwing up everywhere a few minutes into the game while coming off, not to return.

Travis Boak (Power listed) had a real purple patch in the third quarter, has an amazingly accurate kick when looking for team mates. Will play for the Power most of this year.

Rudolph (who looks like one of the guys in the comedy duo who's name i've forgotten for the minute, they did Toyota Ads a few years ago where they hit each other with planks of wood) did some good stuff, definitely league material.

Roo + Ty both looked themselves, got a few good gets of the ball.

Mitch played defence, same role as last year, drifted down and kicked a good goal. SLSP played permanent forward, hasn't missed a beat kicked 2-3 goals.

Duldig played a ripper 2nd and 3rd quarter, took some excellent, strong, contested pack marks. kicked maybe 4 goals, and handed the ball off perhaps too many times when he could have gone back and slotted it.

Snout's Louts's inventer BBC has decided that he likes Willoughby * and he gets the "BBC seal of approval", which isn't given out lightly. Apparently he was also win the Magarey, which will now be a four way tie between Willoughby, Ben Kane, Mouse and whoever else someone said would win it last week.

On two bad notes, Adam Basir AND the Centals captain Steinborner dislocated their shoulders a few minutes into the reserves game.

The final score doesn't mean much at all, as we rested all our best players in the last quarter (our 3 leading possession winners Kane, Willoughby and Murphy didn't appear at all in the last quarter).

GL may struggle with no GIBBS, DOUGLAS for crows

The loss of Gibbs should be easily covered by the addition of high-profile recruits Ben Kane, Josh Willoughby and Byron Murphy, who all showed very good form today.
I predict that Boak will play for us as much as Douglas did last year, and be just as effective.

i don't think your correct with your assessment of boak, i agree he looked good & is a classy type but if he were in the mix with port he would've played for them last night, not today, he may get game time late in the season if they are struggling on the scoreboard or with injuries & if he did play for port who would port drop ?? maybe logan

Giles hails from the Barossa i think, has played for CD for last 2 or 3 years.

He was drafted to Port's AFL side about 2 years ago, and at that stage i believe had only played junior footy. Was a surpise drafting ("project" player), but he showed quite a bit as a junior.

He played in the London match a few months ago against Geelong and did some nice things up forward, including outmarking the Cat's champion defender Matthew Scarlett. May turn out to be a handy replacement for Port as a ruckman/forward when Lade retires.

Good kid - he impressed early in his time at Westies, but like so many others there it didn't work out for him.

Not sure how much gametime Boak had but he would have played in teh SANFL to get some more gametime. Would have got more gametime today than he would have in Sydney.


Giles is a big bloke whos been on our AFL list for the past season. Has put on about 10 kilos and a lot of muscle in the past season. Before he was drafted he won the 2005 U17s BnF for Centrals. Was too young to be drafted on a rookie list that year so Port took a punt and drafted him in the National draft, as they assumed he would be gone too early the year after.

Im impressed how hes put on the amount of bulk he has. Played reserves all alst year, maybe about 16 games. Dont think he made the best players once. Looks to have come quite a fair way in that time and should push for league this year.

Port are trying to mould him into a ruckman and he impressed last week in the trial against the Saints.
