In case you haven't seen, check out the program guide for C31 this week.
http://www.c31.com.au/programguide/ProgGuide%2025-31%20Mar.pdf
Specifically, a "new show" on Friday evening at 6:30.
New show?

I can confirm that a new SANFL show will start on C31 shortly, after a sponsor came up with the necessary funding. I found this also in the TV book yesterday and was as surprised as many. After ringing the station manager, I was advised that the sponsor has made the funding on the proviso that no personnel from last years show be involved (apart from the new host, who appeared on two shows in 2006). I had always hoped that, after working for 4 years to get this show running, on a voluntary basis with limited support, that any decision for my involvement to cease would be on my terms, but this decision has been taken out of my hands. I had also hoped to find this out by means other than reading it in a TV book. Other issues in my life over the past few weeks have compounded my feelings on this issue.
I'd like to thank all of you for the support of "Total SANFL" in 2006, and hope this new show wins support from fans. This is effectively my last statement as a C31 person, as my involvement with that body ceases immediately.

Sorry to see CK. I obviously never saw the show, but your passion for SANFL football is obviously outstanding.
And to be shafted in this way with no explanation is absolute bollocks, lacks respect and compassion for you as an individual.
Hope things work out for you with whatever's going on in your private life.

Sad to hear that Chris, it must be pretty hard to take seeing all that hard work and someone else sweep in there to take it over.
I would encourage you Chris to seriously look into working for the SANFL, I think that you have what it takes to make it successfull!

Does that mean that Milbank is going to be the new host?
I suppose sponsors can do with their money whatever they like but it's a shame that other people/groups get to benefit out of the groundwork done by others. I know some of you will come out and say 'but it was on before Chris did it', which is correct but it had been in recess for at least one season. I can't understand the sponsor's viewpoint unless he is someone that is either tied in with the Advertiser or the SANFL (not an individual club).
Trevor Edwards told me about your situation Chris and my feelings are with you as I went through the same thing four months ago.

Nope, Ben Hook.
I'm just looking up his stats now... trying to find a reference to "Ben Hook" and "SANFL"....

Well, it is someone tied in with the Advertiser.
Don't mean Hook any ill will and I'm sure he'll do a good job but it's a shame all the same.

When the new sponsor is announced maybe people should contact them and let them know their thoughts to see if some type of concession can be made?

Bad luck to CK. Sounds a bit immoral what they did. Hopefully your passion, commitment and expertise is not lost to the SANFL and you can still contribute through another medium if you are still willing.
I guess from a big picture point of view it is great that an SANFL program will still be running on tv each week.

Suffice to say I was floored when I heard the news.
Please note it's not just Chris Kendall that have been sacked from the SANFL program
By the edict I have heard that all involved last year (bar one) are not to be allowed on this year, thus the following SANFL experts have also been sacked by the station;
- Dennis Browne
- Doug Robertson
- Zac Milbank
- Doug Oakley
- Darryl Smith
- Jon Symonns
- John Nankivell
- Peter Argent
- Rob Douglas & Todd Wellington
- Chris Andrews
- & myself
I like Chris and I assume all the others are pretty insulted that either a sponsor or a station (or both) has made the call to SACK ALL OF US retaining just one person to continue on.
It almost begs the question ... who is left that can actually talk for an hour on the SANFL? or are we going to get a show with 95% style and 5% substance.
From a league viewpoint .... it's great to see SANFL on TV as much as possible.
From a personal viewpoint ... I'm shattered for Chris that one individual, the station and possibly the sponsor have acted in this way.

Phil Herden

I assume this also means that the sponsor for this year isn't too worried about being able to get ratings figures?

You dont think anyone outside your list doesnt know anything about SANFL Football.
Bugger me, there are plenty of people out there that know the league but havnt got the look in the door that people like you did a couple of years ago.
Do I bow now?
