Eagles Bar and Bistro

Was looking for somewhere for lunch today whilst between car yards (searching for a new car) and thought we'd give the Eagles Bar and Bistro a go.
Less than half a dozen people there (we were the only one's in the restaurant part when we got there) but the service was friendly and good and the value and quality of the meals was fantastic!
Managed to feed a family of 4 for only $24.80! (I pay more at KFC!).
I had the $6.50 special Fish and Chips, the missus had the $6.50 special beef ravioli and the kids both had schnitzels with chips. There's a few more expensive items but nothing any difference in price to a pub or cafe and there was a good selection.
No complaints, everyone was full.
A good setup, well done Eagles, I enjoyed the experience and recommend it to anyone.

Often, our family goes to the Bistro at Woodville Oval on a Wednesday Night (set up after the Pokies moved to Eagles Bar & Bistro on Port Road).

At $6 per head, kids meals $4 it is excellent value, served with a smile.

Actually that was mentioned by a North fan I stood with today, said they'd been in there a couple of times for really cheap food and good food at that.

Nah, I didn't smell any smoke but I didn't go into the pokies part as I had the kids with me.

I'm there at least once a week. TroyGFC is right that it does smell a bit smokey, but that's only in the bar area at night times, and also near the big screen TV. Tea can be a bit dear if you don't go on the schnitty nights (Tues and Thurs) or Steak night (I think Monday? I'm a shnitty man), but the staff are friendly and it's a nice place just to have a quiet night. It usually fills right up on Tuesday and Thursday night, but other times it's dead such as lunch time.

Always a granny on the pokies though.

It's a great set up and great value. I haven't been to all clubs bistro's but its the best of the one's I have been to.

Its definately not as good as the Grand Central, Grand North or Northern Tavern but its a good set up none the less.
Food was good value but nothing special like you'd get at some other SANFL establishments.
Probably need to separate the pokies area from the rest better especially with children welcome and ideally there'd be room for a sports bar of some sort.
It reminded me of North's old setup at Sefton Park which is probably what they based it on.

Took my dad 89years young to GrandCentral for lunch on a Wednesday...

Both had Fish something...

2 x pieces with chips and salad.

Smorgas board also.

Fish were bigger than the plate.

A lot of his age group there....

Couldn't eat it all.....

Ended up there because the city was too hard.....

Doesn't matter....

We went home happy....

nup and the fish was on special, there's only 2 specials per day from what I could see so it might not be $6.50 every day.

Still hard to go past Grand Central as a venue.
Well worth visiting BarZaar at lunch time, above average food at a decent price in good surroundings. I work not far from Unley Road and BarZaar is becoming a very attractive lunch time option with a lot of people. Not so sure about their dinner prices though.
Hope Norwood can do something simliar at Gilles Plains, hopefully by July.

If you want to have a bet, just go to the Eagles Club at Woodville oval.
