Port Adelaide have to be absolute favourites for this match, especially considering that Warren Tredrea will be playing for the Magpies for the first time in 10 years.

No Waterhouse? No worries. Tredrea's in!

U-legs and CP can you do the stats for me, I want you to count the number of times Tredea:

Does the teapot....
Glares at a team mate when the ball bounces out of his hands in front of his eyes....
Throws his arms out and looks at the umpire as if to say "look he's holding"...
Looks up to where the video scoreboard would be so he can look at himself while he tries to touch his elbows behind his back...
kicks a point from 30 m out dead in front (Nathan Bock/Ian Perrie style   ) and then looks to where the non-existant zepher is coming from....

I called this about 4 weeks ago, and imho he was always going to play ... I had a little quiet confidence going into this game, but now not only do we have to keep Clayton to less than 5, we have to hold Tredrea to less than 10 ... LOL thank god for the calming influences of Coopers!!

This game should already draw a large crowd, but would be interesting to know the affect that one player could have on the attendance (thats about our most realistic positive now I think).

I was going to suggest we dim the lights everytime he gets near the ball, but I think that would be the case anyway

LOL CP

A great game to start the season. The appearance of Tredders should draw another 1000 or so through the gate. With expected nice weather should be a huge crowd to witness the traditional rivals in the season opener. I'm tipping Norwood at home because they have been in winning form throughout the trials. The last few years with Port, you don't know what you're going to get. The inclusion of Tredrea might backfire and mess with the Port game plan. If Norwood can check Clayton closely throughout the whole game (even if it means sacrificing one of your better players to limit his effectiveness) then Norwood can win.

Having an AFL listed player coming in doesnt guarantee a victory. I just want the maggies to win. I've got excited before about players coming back only to be left infuriated by their lack of committment to the cause. Predominantly they seem to be listed for particular one AFL side too! Hopefully he plays well for us but im not going to get carried away.

Yeah that's a fair call Chief, but Tredrea is a Port man through and through, so unfortunately I can't see him going about things lightly.

Well I hope your right but time will tell. Troy, any idea what shape he's in? He hasn't played for a while.

Pretty damn good shape actually. He would be playing for the Power this weekend if he had it his way.

Choco just said he's needs a game in the SANFL to get some match fitness. So how much of the game he plays, is a mystery. Could play only a quarter, could play the whole thing. Knowing Warren's competitive nature, he'll want to play the whole thing.

ONLY PLAY A QUARTER! If that happens  We are a league footy club not a bloody reserves team that can be experimented with! Timmy G play him the whole game or not at all or make him play in the 2s if they only want him to play a qtr.

He killed us a few times. The last couple of games we've put a hard tag on him with Colville and P Fiacchi and he wasn't as effective. They send him back to the back lines to get kicks and his influence is reduced. Would Hill consider using Borlace to stop him in the hope that your other midfielders are better than their other midfielders? I'm convinced that in order to beat Port you've got to have someone within touching distance of Clayton for the whole game and you need a very good player who can not only have the discipline to follow, but also compete when needed.
