Looking for another club, leaning towards Westies at this stage.

This from the GFC:

MEDIA RELEASE
Wednesday April 4th 2007
Willits Departs Glenelg

Port Adelaide listed Ryan Willits has informed the Glenelg Football Club that he wishes to change SANFL Clubs. Willits informed Mark Mickan of his decision on
Tuesday afternoon following ongoing discussions between Port Adelaide, Glenelg and Ryan.
Ryan has indicated that he does not believe it is in his best interest to stay at Glenelg as he strives to play AFL Football as a key forward. This is despite the fact that the Glenelg Football Club has made it very clear to Ryan and Port Adelaide that he will be picked as a key forward for Glenelg if his form warrants selection.
Willits was selected in the Reserves against South Adelaide at Full Forward following what the coaching staff believed was a below average performance as a key forward against North Adelaide at League level. Following this selection Ryan and Port Adelaide Football Club took steps to enable Ryan to be transferred to another Club by lodging their dispute with the SANFL.
The Glenelg Football Club fully supports Senior Coach Mark Mickan and the selection policy. That selection policy is the same for every player on the list and is
that players will be picked according to form and in line with the team structure.
This decision in the Club’s view further highlights the need for the SANFL to continue to review the rules that govern the interchange of players between the
SANFL and AFL Clubs.
Under SANFL rules, Willits has 7 days from when the dispute was registered with the SANFL, to resolve the issue with Glenelg. If this is not resolved then he will be offered to the bottom Club from 2006 with a transfer to be determined.
The Glenelg Football Club looks forward to the forthcoming season with a committed group of players who are focused on taking the Club into the finals for the first time since 1999.

I can see where the Bays are coming from, they have such a plethora of forwards they couldn't find a spot for him up forward! :?
Seriously though, North are improving every year because we have less and less AFL players to rely on.

He'll get offered to Sturt and Norwood who can't afford the transfer fee, leaving the Bays as the next option

Surely being transferred to the Magpies would be an option.

Im not sure if its changed but last time I heard about this process he/the Power can move him anywhere but the transfer fee which is minor anyway goes up gradually depending on how far up the ladder they have to climb to find a home for him.
Im sure if Westies didn't play him up forward they wouldn't show interest in him.
Must admit I saw a game or two when he played up forward for the Power and he looked impressive, never noticed him when/if he played for the Bays. Was he in the backline that North kicked 24 odd goals against?

Dunno, they already have a couple of key forwards (if they get on the ballpark).

I'd never thought so mate, but was just going from this line If this is not resolved then he will be offered to the bottom Club from 2006 with a transfer to be determined.

Dont know, but even if there was, wouldn't it be the Power who pay it?

Well, we've got LeCras lining up at FF, personally I'd play him down back, play Batson at FF, and I would put Willits into CHF.

I see what you mean - perhaps is treated same as standard SANFL player out of contract.

We let the Bays have Schuback, they are just paying back the favour

No loss for Glenelg as Willits is a very average player.

Will never make at AFL level IMO.

I think it will be a good move for all parties.

Glenelg can play him where they want but if Port want him to develop as a forward and Glenelg have no interest in playing him there, then Port have every right to request a move.

???? I can't work the boy out every game I've seen him play he has looked sensational down back. Appears to be much more commfortable running straight at the footy. When he has been up forward he looks like Bin Ladin in a Synagogue - totally out of place.....

More chance of making it in the AFL down back IMHO, and then he might be able to move to a key forward spot a la David neitz who played his forst 50-100 games in the back half....

I agree with Tassie there, Lynch spent alot of time as fullback for Brisbane b4 moving up forward. Willo can do same.
