Under Age-Footy Budget

Postby Spot » Sun Apr 08, 2007 7:35 pm

Just would like to know why parents now have to buy a footy budget to get the underage players names and numbers.
Before all clubs provided sheets at the games that had detailed information.

The budget was out on Thursday and alot of the teams weren't picked until Thursday night.
When lookin at our players 1/4 of them weren't listed and about 5 had the wrong numbers.
I can understand they want to sell more, and what a way to do it.

Shame, before you could look and see hw many games players had played, their weight and height, where the clubs were on the ladder
and the most inportant where the kids had come from. Good for the grass roots clubs.

Most clubs can't do selections until later in the week so it seems the information in footy budget won't be worth anything.

Clubs please bring back the old sheets and books.

Just from the other point of view I must admit I liked the kids names being in the budget for a change as I could look through the names at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 time etc as a lot are familiar names.

On the weekend there were names listed of kids that didn't get a game,
I for one hated not knowing who the kids were.

Some boys it was their first game at a league club and they didn't even have their names in the book.
How good can something be that is produced well before the team has been decided.

Yes I agree it was nice to see some of the names in there that were correct,
but why stop doing something that worked and was alot more accurate.

Ideally there'd be both but I suppose cost comes into it. Names of initial squads in the budget so people at League games can peruse the kids names and a more up to date list given out at the underrage games.
Has this been an issue in the past in finals as there's been the juniors names in the budgets in finals with no handouts from memory?

Also, just in addition, I enjoyed the handout that South gave when I went to a North v South U17/U19 match at Noarlunga as it detailed which local club each kid came from.

Good to see the mini league playing on half the oval and the other part filled with kids & kids at heart kicking the footy.

Glad common sense eventually prevailed.

I think it's a fantastic idea, because you do familiarise yourself with some of juniors around place and a great marketing ploy from the league, sure to get a few more issues of the budget sold every week.

Still not good if the info is not correct as it was this weekend.

Missing names, players listed that didn't play and kids with the wrong numbers.

I for one would be annoyed if my child wasn't listed and was playing and another
child got the even though they didn't play.

As I said before it would be alright if it was correct, but when clubs don't
select teams till after it comes out, it might be round 15 before it is correct.
