Eagles continue good form in regional grounds

The Eagles last weekend continued their dominance around south aussies regional grounds taking their record to 4-0 with wins at Clare, Mount Pleasant, Whyalla and now Encounter Bay. It just got me wondering what other clubs performances are at regional grounds.

I remember the game at Clare, the Eagles flogged North and Brett Burton made his debut that day taking speccies all over the shop.
We've played a couple of games at Pirie, might have played one at Jamestown too.
I remember beating Port in a great game at Pirie one night.
Was a while ago though as I think Brodie was playing for us then.

Why dont then the Eagles look into having a home game once a year maybe at Easter in their country zone? An Eagles game at either Moonta or Kadina would likely be packed!

Good idea Sojourner. I'm all for the SANFL as a whole programming more regional games. Maybe if each team has 1 home match transferred to a location in their zone it would be a great idea and an ideal way to promote our states competition.

Which game would WWT give up a home game at Woodville or a home game at Thebarton ?
After travelling on a bus booked by the club to a country oval I think perhaps its one of the other 8 teams turn to travel to the country .I know I had a tounge in cheek dig at spell check but if the bus was not available I was not going and I wonder how many others could not attend if a bus was not put on by the club and paid for by the members.
And I'm sorry but why do other teams fans always want the EAGLES to do something!! Big thumbs up for south perhaps some other teams should do something.If you want crowds get Port or Centrals to travel to the country just a thought.

Must have been the Central game I confused it with.

Eagles beat Norwood at Mt Pleasant in 1994.

Looked like country games were popular in 1994.

we also lost a night game to em up there

Yeah Ive found a 94 year book (as you can see from my edit above).

In it it says that they were the first games with premiership points played in the country for 40 years.

I think the Whyalla match in 1995 was when David Niemanns' parents were killed in a car accident on the way back from the match.

What I find interesting, is that for a supposed "country league" the SANFL only got 4,500 less than the VFL match there the year before.
