The much maligned by safooty posters Sunday football has started well.

3050 at prospect is great considering it was far from a mouthwatering contest and one of the clubs is lucky to get 200 people to their away games.

3700 at Unley is very good considering Glenelg wont attract more than 500 to away games and thats being kind. (Anyone got a rough estimate on how many bays fans were there yesterday?)

3800 at woodville very good crowd also as West Torrens are a member of the group of 4 clubs who get bugger all supporters to games.

Sunday football 1
Those against it 0

Moving onto the issue of South, West, Glenelg and the Eagles having a poor following which is not a criticism just a fact.

Rough average at what each of them get to away games imho.

Woodville 400

Glenelg 300

South 200

West 200

Home

West torrens 1000-1200

Glenelg 2000 sometimes a lot more

West 1000

South 800

Keeping these figures in mind the SANFL does very well with its crowds.

I reckon a mix between all 4 time slots is what the league needs, by having all footy on a Saturday arvo it alienates many would be fans...I have no issue with Sunday footy as I reckon it will average 500-1000 per game more.

Yesterdays crowd at Unley was 65/35...so thats at least 1200 Bay fans

Come on Dutchy, I thought you used up your quota for outrageous statements last week?

Glenelg had a reasonable representation, but certainly nowhere near 1200, that made some noise and got behind their boys, particularly the group in front of the McKay Stand, but let's face it, I have seen that group at trial matches too and they would get loud and excited at a Yatzee tournament.

Can't knock their passion.

Terrific crowd yesterday. The roar that went up when Ryan Darling goaled on the run from fifty to seal the game was fantastic. When you get 3500+ at Unley it makes for a great atmosphere.

So you bag me but what was yoru guess MST? God I get sick of people on here prepared to bag everyone but not put their balls on the line...

...I though 2 Sturt fans for every 1 Bays fan was a reasonable guess?

That really suprises me. Are you a glenelg or turt supporter?

I guesstimate 5 Sturt to 1 Bay supporter. Heaps of Sturt supporters on the hill where I was resting. Still IMHO Sunday's still suck!! If it was a cold wet day the turn out would of been lucky to get 800 people!!

Glenelg dont get more than 400 at prossie.

round 1 2004 was the best turnout they have had at prossie in years and the only decent one in years

now theres no reason why sturt dont have 3,000+ members plus a minimum of 3,000 at all home games for the season

correct MT, lets see if they can get a minimum 3500 all year (Sturts 3000 + min of 500 opposition)
